Eris 2.1 leak Bug's and Fixes

did you check off the auto retrieve? as well? and before you check off the received notification.. make sure you check off the play sound and then you check off the received notification. that what i do and i use chomp. hope that helps you out

thanks for replying...yes I checked everything off on the stock messaging ap which is why this is so frustrating.I guess I'm the only one with this issue...should I just reinstall 2.1? Would that work or is it my phone? Sorry for all the questions I know some people had this issue in leak 1

Big problem for me. I'm posting this in the 2.1 thread because the fix is related. Anyways, today out of nowhere, the trackball and microphone stopped working. I've rebooted, taken out the battery, even wiped the phone. It wont work. I took it into Verizon, and they noticed I had 2.1 on there. They also told me that voided my warranty......So, I have insurance, but will they be able to see that my warranty has been voided? I'm sure the guy put a note on my file of that. Am I up a creek without a paddle, or will insurance still work for me?

Since I've upgraded to 2.1.2 I've noticed that I no longer get the numbers of events in the notification bar like I used to get with 1.5. For example, when I get a new voicemail, I see the icon in the notification bar, but it doesn't let me know how many messages I have like it used to. Same thing for Hanscent notification icon. Anyone have any idea how to get these back? I miss them..

I read thru the first two pages and refused to sift thru the remaining 29 pages, so I apologize if this has been hashed but has ANYONE found the fix for the Google/Gmail prompting for creds after a reboot or battery pull? (you could even tell me what page/post# it is in the thread if it's in here) How about the Facebook contacts refusing to sync and stay updated? It's grating on my nerves.

Just upgraded to 2.1. I have notice the Bluetooth stereo headset doesn't work as well anymore. I can no longer be listening through the headset, get in the car and plug it into the headphone jack and have it switch over to headphone jack. It used to be so nice how easy i could go from bluetooth to aux jack and back to bluetooth. Now I have to turn it off before I plug in the jack, otherwise it will not work. Has anybody else had this problem? I was thinking maybe there was a setting somewhere but I can't find anything now.

Which version of the leak are you on v1 or v2? V2 gets rid of the google/gmail prompt. I don't want my facebook contacts on my phone so I can't answer that one for you.

FYI you can find out what software you're running by going to menu>settings>about phone>Software information. If you're not running software 2.26.605.4 you're probably running the old version. I believe the old version is 2.26.605.2.

Does anyone happen to have a link (or just a good idea) of what signal level range that each bar should translate to?

The reason I ask, I'm another one with the bars dropping by about 1/2 since installing 2.1v2... In my apartment, I used to get 1-2 bars, now I get 0-1. And when I'm out and about, there are areas where I used to get 4 full bars, but now the highest I get is 3 bars - no matter what. Not even within eyeshot of the tower.

I'm trying to figure out if this is really a drop in signal quality, or just the bar system not reading the actual signal strength properly. So far, I don't think I have had huge problems with the signal itself (but then again, nobody calls me enough for me to know - I mostly get texts).

i updated to 2.1 v2 earlier this week and have been noticing a weird issue when making calls. does anyone else experience a quick vibration right before the phone connects to whomever you're calling? it's not too big of a deal, but i don't recall it happening on 1.5, and i had one of my buddies at work whose phone is still on 1.5 test it when he made a call and no vibrate right before connection.

anybody have any ideas?

Looks like the newest version of Handcent SMS might deal with the "all Facebook contacts showing up even though I don't want them" bug:

Handcent sms Version 2.9.36
16 Apr 2010...
  • Add option for enable/disable show social network contact items at android 2.x device COOL!
Set this option at "settings"->"social network settings"

News & Events

Now if only HTC would release an updated "Phone" app that would do the same thing...

For some reason, on my Eris I can't find this setting any where in Handcent.

If the signal is between -95 dBm and -125 dBm, move the device to an alternate location
if it is -73 dBm to -94 dBm then you are good i have the same problems with the signal indicator i compared my eris 2.1v2 to my other eris stock 1.5 and same signal strength but i had less bars

Ok, thanks... I think this answers my question, it must be the bar indicator is screwy on 2.1v2, hopefully they fix this in the OTA (if there ever is one). It's psychologically traumatizing me, even if the phone is not actually functioning worse. :p

Does this on mine as well... this is another "feature" I'm having a huge amount of trouble getting used to. I guess so you know it's "doing something".

This think it's supposed to sort of compensate for taking sometimes 30 seconds to actually connect your call. This way, you dial, and wait for it to "buzz" at you, letting you know to put the phone to your ear now, cause it's ringing. I think.
