GSIII seems larger in other people's hands

I don't know what it is, but when I see other people with GSIII's (I'm seeing EVERYBODY popping up with this phone lately. Almost seems like its the new iPhone) I frequently mistake it for a Note II because of how large it often looks when other people are holding it. But then when I pull my own GSIII out, it doesn't seem NEARLY as big in my own hands. I'm not sure if my hands are particularly larger than average (the phone fits within the horizontal length of my hand) or if I've just gotten so accustomed to the size of the Galaxy Player 5 in the 9 months prior to buying the GSIII, but it just doesn't seem like THAT big of a device to me.

I know what you mean, I went from a tiny 3.5 (or 3.7) inch galaxy portal to the S3, it felt huge back then, but now it just feels more, natural.

I was playing with a colleagues Note 2 a few weeks ago and that did feel a lot bigger, but not so big it was a major discomfort, but a tad too big to be a practical solution for what I need.

I think it also depends on if the phone is in a case, my S3 is in a barely there case and that's it, only adds maybe 3-4mm in width and that's maybe an over estimate.

My first smartphone was a G2 with a 3.7" screen. Then I bought the 5" Galaxy Player as a media-specific secondary device to compensate for my G2's declining battery life. I almost stopped using my G2 altogether, aside from occasional calling and texting. It became ridiculously small.

It shouldn't seem like 4.8" should be THAT much of a dropoff from 5", but I do find a noticeable difference between the screen sizes. The GSIII seems quite narrower than the Galaxy Player screen by proportion, which seems weird to me. Of course, a side-by-side comparison reinforces this. I tried to scale back my GP5 usage in efforts to "normalize" my GSIII's size, but still feels... a tad on the small side. I really wish I could get my hands on a Note II though.

Its your perspective. Just like in the locker room.
