Root [ROM][ALPHA] CyanogenMod 10 for the LG Connect 4G MS840

I have no doubt that it will work eventually. Playfulgod always comes through. I just have to work on my patience!!!!! I want to use this ROM as my main ROM so bad!!!!! Is driving my nuts not being able to use data. Lol
I do try, not came thru on the Esteem yet, but not from lack of trying tho. lol

well .. I downloaded some apps while connected to "1x" @ 1.5Mb/sec .. 1x maxes out around 150 - 170Kb/sec so we may be connected to EvDO while it says 1x
1.5Mps isnt no 1x I ever been on, thats more like 3g speeds. ;)
So far, no data. Also, 0309a would not enable wifi. had to wipe and install 0309. still waiting for 1x to show up. Loving the speediness, though!
Just noticed that myself, will fix in next build.

So last night after the no service thing on jb cost me the phone number of this really hot girl -_-' lol i recovered the nandroid backup i made but this time it didnt restore the radio settings :/ but later i saw 4g pop up on my #2 rom and the data worked even with the bad radio settings though it was impossibly slow (but not outa the ordinary for where i work sadly enough)... thought it was odd and figured it might help :)

Still not getting why 310 is making my battery really warm and why it's still clunky in performance. Am I the only one?

Even with a data wipe? I wonder if it has anything to do with what you are flashing over from, like a custom ROM... I'm flashing over from bone stock ZVA and no issues with battery heat or performance. I guess you are the only one :(

When you set the clocks back to 1188 max in the CM performance menu, did you check "set on boot" and reboot? We're giving the CPU less voltage than stock so it should run cooler. I'm sure PG checked, does the connect run the same PMIC/charger/fuelgauge as the lucid? It could be the radio/wifi running hot since it can't find a good signal due to your apn issues.

Many lucid users have noticed a sizable heat decrease by comparison, even with the OC.

I came from stock VV3. I took out the Lucid battery and put in the stock and that ran even hotter at 100.4 degrees. I'm not sure if it's because I had a VV3 version or an MS840V model, etc. I did what you said and rebooted after I set the voltages lower, with set on reboot check, and that didn't do anything.

Given that everyone else is noticing smooth performance, I smell a potential rogue app if you're also having lag and a hot phone. Could you use the battery app after about a 50-75% discharge and list the top five offenders? After a few days of use on a lucid, I'd say that for me screen comes in at 25%, cell standby and phone idle at 15, wifi/android system/android OS at 10, and everything else combined the remaining 30%.

had/have that issue on the ZTE Sequent too, dont recall what we did to fix it. lol

i wouldnt know ... my guess would be to check whatever icon is associated with EvDO (3g) u would know better than I.. lol ... but i did run into a major issue that i ended up bricking (almost) my connect .. am now runnin vv3 temporarily ... what had happened was i turned on the automatic screen brightness and it immediately rebooted.. repeatedly.. non stop... got it to go into recovery and was going to reflash cm 10 but i must have chose one of the many that had only partially downloaded er somethin cause only the leds would light up... oh and there's no animation/indication that the device is charging while powered off .. that was b4 i reverted back to stock.. on the plus side though the phone has been a whole lot cooler temperature wise..

What is everyone doing to get 1x Data? Or what version are you on? I tried 0309, no data, 0309a, no data and no wifi, and 0310, no data. I'll keep running it even without data, but man I would love not to have to piggy back on my works wifi on Monday cause LAUSD filters keep me from checking kotaku and espn as often as I've grown used to. :(

How can there be a rogue app on my Connect if I just flashed the ROM?

I've had stock apps (bloatware or non) go rogue before. For one example, after I froze some of the bloat on the stock lucid ICS rom, battery life plummeted. A check of the battery app turned up an android system service constantly quitting and restarting keeping the phone awake 100% of the time. Disabling that solved the issue. While you might not have such an obvious issue, the battery app may point a finger at a particular radio or process sucking power.

weird, mine doesnt seem hot at all.

I found out that stock LG batteries overheat... got 2 chinese 1900mAh ones for $10 and it stays nice and cool around 30-40C (I'm not overclocked, and using ZVA.)

By the way, great news PG. If you guys get this working, I should be able to get the ubuntu port going once it goes from preview to a solid release ;)

You can get a jump start with the ubuntu port on the lucid ROM, as nearly everything's working except for front cam and MHL, and the connect/lucid use the same kernel.

It requires a CM10 kernel, this rom's should work ;)
From what i'm seeing it's not really anywhere near as hard when using ubuntu. There's a tool that when connected to USB debugging mode just flashes your device and bam. As long as you were booted into a CM10 device. In theory anyone running this rom could try it. It does require an unlocked bootloader. Not sure if this phone's is locked or not.

But do so at your own risk. I'd make sure you got a backup first. It's kinda funny that they can write instructions for this in like 1 page, but when I look at anything android documentation it's paragraphs of gibberish.

Alright guys.

I am usually a person that never seeks out help of any kind and I am more of a contributor and I always try to help others in whatever they need, but for once, I do seem I am stock. x.x

The ROMs works great (Aside from the front camera and data which is already known.) I do know a lot of people got their phone (meaning the ACTUAL phone -Make calls, text, etc-) by doing a full factory reset either by flashing the phone in download mode using the LGMobileSupport Tool or using the provided KDZ firmware files. I flashed my phone both ways (meaning, I tried on and it didn't work then tried the other after a while of using it and it did not work either.)

I cannot get any signal on my phone (Aside that one time I went out and I got a few bars, but couldn't make calls or text aside from calling *228 for programming.) One time, I messed with the network mode settings and managed to receive one text and calls, but I still couldn't send one or make a call.
When I look at settings, I see that service state is "Out of Service" and the mobile network state is "Disconnected". Also, one thing to note is that I did restored back to a backup I had (BrokenOut) and temporarily installed LauncherPro to access the MetroPCS Hidden Menu. When I looked at the Prgoramming, my MDN, MIN, and Home SID where all 0. It is as if my SIM card got completely unprogrammed. To me, it is the only logical expalnation since flashing back to complete stock (even directly through the LGMobileSUpport Tool) should have fixed it right away. With this in mind, I am inclined to believe it must be something that is not natively part of the phone itself, such as the SIM.

If any of you find a solution, please let me know. :) I have been without a phone for almost a week. lol A good start is trying to port the MetroPCS Hidden Menu APK since it seems to be set to work only on GIngerBread. NOw, I did try using the MetroPCSHiddenMenu.apk from the LG Motion 4G and placed it in my system apps, but it did not work, probably because the Motion 4G runs on ICS and CM is a modded JB.

I'm not sure if this will work, but have you actually tried *228 and running through that activation portion that programs your phone? I think you have to say 'update prl' or something along those lines. Just saying, cause when you dail it, it actually calls something and you can hear metro's recorded message etc.. right? I know you called the #, just not sure if you asked it to program.

I managed to get the phone working up to the point I can receive calls and sms, but I cannot make calls or send texts. I can, however, dial *228 and access Metro that way. I'll just switch back to BO so I can program my phone (trick the assistant into thinking that *228 is not working so they can give me all the information to put it in manually through ##626* through the MetroPCS Hidden Menu so I can save that info and use it in the future so I do not have to call them again. :p)
