Trying to decide between the iPhone 4S and the Samsung Galaxy S II 4G

I am currently using the Samsung Exhibit II 4G on T-Mobile's $30/month plan with unlimited data. Unfortunately, it gets no signal while I am at work, and that's where I need it most.

I am thinking of switching back to Virgin Mobile's Beyond Talk plan and I'm trying to decide which phone to get. I am thinking either the iPhone 4S or the Samsung Galaxy S II 4G.

According to the coverage map on VM's website, there is very little 4G coverage in my area, which sort of defeats the purpose of having a 4G phone like the Galaxy, but it still looks like it's a strong phone otherwise.

Please help me pick out my next phone. I plan to have it for awhile so I want to make sure I get the best option. I'm also considering getting the mobile hotspot option for an extra $15/month.

Well being on Android Forums

most everyone here is going to be biased towards Android.

I've never even handled an apple product so I can't compare the two.

Although I did have the s2 for a little while and it was a pretty solid device.

I recently dumped all of my Apple products and moved back to Android. Why? Because you can't do this on an iPhone:

Android offers so much more customization than any iOS device.

And with android you don't need special apps for music and media ie no need for I tunes to put music on the device. Just plug into computer and copy files

Just get a galaxy s2 or if you can find an evo v 4G, you should get that. It's much cheaper and is in more development.

As 98% of the people here will tell you, Android > iOS. However if you can hold out a bit longer, Virgin Mobile should be getting some new devices soon. (See: http://androidforums.com/virgin-mobile/696786-virgin-mobile-rumored-devices-thread.html)

Galaxy SII is a solid phone, but with the GSIV announcement tommorow, you may want to wait a bit for a newer phone or the price to drop.

Finally, I would advise you against getting the mobile hotspot option unless absolutely needed, as Virgin's (and Sprint's) data speeds are ridiculously slow.

I have had both.

You know, 10 years ago I was a Macaholic. I LOVED APPLE COMPUTERS, and thought them to be years ahead of Windows. Apple phones? Not so much. I truly felt restricted by the iPhone architecture. I hated having all my app icons dump on the screen. I disliked the lack of customization. Things I thought iPhone should do, it didn't, or did them counterintuitive to MY thinking. Android nailed it for me.

I have used Blackberry, iPhone and Android exrensively. I still carry a Berry for business cuz nothing, IMO handles messaging like a Blackberry because it was what they were designed to do.

But I gave my 4s to my girlgriend. She has wanted an iPhone for years and gave up her MyTouch 4g for the iPhone.

What doe she think now? She regrets giving up her Android. Maybe she just got used to the Android, but she is sorry she gave it up for iPhone.

IMO iPhone has a huge cult following. Im just not one of them. I still have a backup Blackberry but dumped the iPhone. No regrets. My fave phone? Hands down the Android.

Apple Inc. eats their own children, and when they are full they will look over at you and yours and say, "hey, you gonna eat that?".
Back to reality you'll sure feel good when you hear next years' cash reserves will be enough to offset the federal debt. With interest. Just because your money was part of it.
Even more back to reality, I have a Microsoft Zune. The launch one, 30gb. They still support the software.
You know, I can go to Frostwire (the new limewire) and download whatever music I like in torrents, just dump it in my Zune file, and Zune goes on the internet and finds me the album artwork and other data, and even has a neat screen saver for the artist. With no hacks or any fiddling or tricks.
Can an Apple product do that?
Sure the Apple hardware has some bling to it, but why shouldn't it? In a way it's not yours, it's theirs.
Besides, you do love your children, don't you?
