Root [Verizon] HELP! Lost 4g signal after 4.1.2 update

Perhaps totally unroot by installing stock software via ODIN, then reroot?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867253

After using this guide, you will take the update, then reroot.

Hey Mike. Thanks for the suggestion. I did the unroot then reroot thing. That didn't fix my problem. Called Verizon and of course they couldn't restore 4g on the phone either. They shipped me a replacement. Guess what? I activated the phone and I didn't have 4g service. My wife has the same phone. I updated the software to 4.1.2 and she still has 4g. I'm begining to think that it might be my sim card. What do you think?

That would be my next guess seeing as another phone is acting the same way. Perhaps a visit to the store to get another sim?

I would say try your wifes sim in your phone to see if it gets 4G but I don't know much about sims to tell you for sure to try it.

So, I went ahead and placed my wifes sim card in my phone, rebooted and had 4g service. Placed my sim card back in my phone and only had 3g. I guess we could say its the sim card. Going to verizon tomorrow morning and getting a card. Thanks for your help Mike.

I took the update the other day and lost root and 4g signal. Losing root is not a problem as I can always re-root. The phone still functions normal. I still get 3g. I've gone as far as performing a factory reset. Anyone have any ideas?

The 3G-4G handoff in the new OTA sucks sometimes. Flip it on airplane mode and off airplane mode and it should come back fine.

Just to update everyone who kindly offered suggestions to solve my problem. I went to Verizon and had them give me a new sim card. My phone has 4g again and functions normal again. Must have been a bad sim. I havn't touched the sim since I installed it and I can't see how updating software would damage it. But what do I know. Thanks again to all.

Installing a mod or ROM can break your APN, which in turn would have your device not recognize you SIM card. Actually is possible. When that is the case, you get your signal back when you ODIN back to stock. Not really relevant here, just FYI.
