Root [ROM][ALPHA] CyanogenMod 10 for the LG Connect 4G MS840

Hey guys just write down or take screenshots of ALL of the CM10 mobile settings, make sure you put everything back to where it was BEFORE you restore your backups!!

XDieandGoX is right about everything above (Thanks for helping us out with this :D). However, in^my^post^above^, I TRIED to destroy my radio by wrecking the settings above while running CM10:

REMOVING ICC card/rebooting
Setting to RUIM>reboot>restore ZVA
Trying ALL of the different CDMA settings>rebooting>restoring ZVA after all of them
Toggling Airplane Mode OFF/ON, rinse, lather, repeat reboot/restore ZVA

I Spent hours trying to kill off my perfectly working 4G/voice and I COULDN'T do it, my radio came back every time I restored. There is no rhyme or reason why radio is getting knocked out. Seems it goes out on us when we are NOT trying LOL

I'm just saying the cause is still not confirmed yet on my end, PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH CM10 settings and y'all should be OK. IF ANYBODY MANAGES TO KILL THEIR RADIO OFF, PLEASE PM ME BEFORE YOU TRY FLASHING VV4! :D:D I would like to see your system settings before you restore so I can see what gets changed by CM10! Thanks!

I'm still without 4g on any ROM!!! I manage to get 3G speeds in CM10 but the weird thing is that instead of showing 1x or 3g it was showing and R. I flashed back to vv3 and 4 using kdz and everything works except 4g.

yea I think the 1x when actually getting 3g is a know bug in Cm10+, will look for a fix for that.

I have restored to vv3 and vv4 and got everything back on my wifes phone. Thing is shes not so yancy to let me test with her phone now lol.

I put this together from Nephs thread for the Spectrum on RootzWiki and links from sammyz's firmware thread. And its how I fix numerous LG's now. ;)

Just to clarify, calls/text work, some have limited data and some have full data, right?

anyone had mms working?

and if/what did you do to get what working if anything. ;)

I've had phone service, able to make as well as receive calls and text only. I tried every setting combo possible in CM10 and could never get any kind of network data going, even with Airplane mode toggle on/off, rebooting etc. Also tried wiping out all of CM10's 80+ APNs and forcing all 19 of my ZVA's Metro APNs to CM with no luck. Major problem is that CM10 APN menu is blank despite the APNs being there :(

To kill your phone signal, change from NV to RUIM/SIM, make sure the option sticks, and restart the phone. No signal. Woo! :D

PG, I think a good start into solving this, like I have mentioned before, is to port the MetroPCSHiddenMenu.apk and LGHiddenMenu.apk to make them work on CM10. At least, we will have access to their extensive options and we can troubleshoot from there.

---------------------------

And, yes, I can finally make calls, send text, receive calls, and receive texts on CM10 by following my own RUIM/SIM to NV solution. xD

If you saw the requested permissions from metrohiddenmenu.apk you would probably reconsider whether you want on your phone LOL.... No joke. I don't think it is needed, all that program does is override system settings. BrokenOutConnect ROM doesn't have LG, Metro or IOT hidden menus and the 4G works fine on that. I just need to know where core system telephony settings are hiding, like as inside whick .apk

You may be right and, if that is the case, out best bet is to look at all the activities applications have. Again, I use Launcher Pro > Add > Shortcut > Activity. It lists everything there is.

Hey jGarcia can you try Xdie's idea and go back to CM10, configure the settings he mentioned? Then try restoring your backup and see if 4G comes back?

Another idea that just hit me here.... Do you have a BrokenOutConnect ROM that you can flash to your phone? I'm wondering if one of the three hiddenmenu APKs are blocking your 4G... BOC ROM has doesn't contain any of ZVA's hidden menus, and all other ROMs like Plague, #2 still have them in the system app folder!!

I couldn't get QPST to read my phone, tried both of my win7 and XP systems with debug on, my damn phone is blocking QPST server from communicating! It may take me a while to find out where it's being blocked... Gonna try to do a KDZ to VV4 and see if I can get in, I'll check back in a bit! :(

Ya I was trying the QPST route wasn't working out for me. Reverted back to the brokenout rom and device was showing up but I couldn't even send my settings to flash over. The MMS part didn't exactly stick but the rest of the flash worked afterwards proceeding to the cm10 upgrade and I was getting signal. Like a dummy though I killed it again. xD

Alright guys, I found a way to access the CDMA Subscription settings without the need of having the LGHiddenMenu.apk installed. I now realized that the LGHiddenMenu uses the CDMA Subscription activity from another app that all of you, I am sure, have installed... The Dialer.

To access the CDMA Subscription settings screen, use Launcher Pro to create a Shortcut > Activity and then scroll down until you see Dialer then scroll to the very bottom to see the second last option before the next app. The name is "Dialer", but it is the activity name which you have to pay attention to: com.android.phone.CdmaSubscription. That's the one you want. Crete the shortcut, select it and then ensure that you have NV selected instead of RUIM/SIM. The signal should come back immediately.

**NOTE** I will also be updating my previous post so people don't have to worry about looking for the LGHiddenMenu
