Root [International] How to completely unroot to be able to install updates

I rooted my s3 a while ago but wasn't too happy that I lost access to some Internet banking sites and also can no longer use skygo.

I've now removed the root and also used triangle away to reset the counter. I've factory reset yet I still have CWM.

I'm happy with the way my phone is set up now and I like the way that I can back up everything is set up. However, with the rumoured updates coming to the s3 I'd like to be able to update either via kies or ota, and at the moment it's telling me that I'm not able to because of modified software.

My questions are;
1. How can I completely restore so that I can install updates?
2. Will the s3 receive some of the features that are destined for the s4,such as some of the camera modes etc?

Many thanks!

you can simply flash the stock rom back. Did you ever change rom once rooting? If not can I have screenshot if settings, about device please?

Knowledge of country /carrier/ branded /unbranded useful too

Thanks very much. I flashed energy hd rom but restored from cwm which was the original rom.
If I do flash the stock rom back, is there anyway I can do a full backup before doing so? Or do I have to start from scratch?

Thanks again, here's the screenshot, I'm on the international version.

Hmmm the screenshot is a bit ambiguous unfortunately...

What carrier are you with? Was the phone branded (carrier splash screen) or did you get it from 3rd party?

Although if you've already found your rom on the link from shotty, no need to answer :)

Then its a case of flashing it with odin. Did you see the guide for that yet?

I bought the phone sim free from amazon but I'm using it with vodafone UK. There was no branding on it at all and it is unlocked.
I looked on the site you quoted but i haven't been able to find it yet.

Does this screenshot help?

Excellent! I'll get on the case tomorrow, thanks for all the help :)

I'll be interested to know how you get on.

I've used this method several times to unroot but afterwards, when I connect to Kies, it says my firmware is KOR and not BTU (Even though I downloaded the BTU version from Sammobiles) and I can't update using Kies. I have also used the firmware upgrade facility on Kies with the same outcome.

The only way to then change the CSC is to use an app like CSC Select from play store, but since JB it requires root access to do it.:( (back to square one).

I managed to do it without too much of a problem, the only thing that took a bit of time was the firmware download, as it was over 800mb.
After that I followed the instructions above and it all went smoothly. Now when I connect to Kies it tells me that I have the most up to date software (I downloaded the latest version which was February).

The only thing I haven't been able to do now is back up via carbon, as for some reason my pc won't recognise that the phone is connected, even though I've dkwnloaded all the drivers.

So when you connect to Kies it shows your firmware ending in BTU???

Glad it's worked for you but I can't understand why mine always says KOR, that was even with the latest firmware EMB5.

Not to worry because as soon as Sale releases aroma mod for v3 I'll be be back on NeatRom lite.

I have a I9300 Galaxy S3 that I rooted about last week and now want to return to stock. I have the latest version which is 4.1.2.

I am guessing I should download one of these:

Firmwares | SamMobile

The device is unbranded and I am from Egypt and carrier is Vodafone Egypt.

Any ideas which one I should go for? Thanks!

The top one is always the latest release, so go for that

I had a HTC One X and I usually had to download the firmware which matches my CID, is that not the case with the S3, however? Like the PDA or CSC should match, for instance? Thanks a lot for your reply.

No, the firmware packages from Sammobile is an all in one package. Just make sure you get the firmware for your model
