Root Holy Help! PRL 40000

happened to me twice! also called metro, they reset everything and still a no go... so i re-did the no service fix and boom, fixed. maybe it'll work for you too. s**ts a pain in the kizzard

Someone once told me that something within the phone senses when there is a system change like "rooting". When a security flaw is exposed which is how some root kits work, the phone sees it and goes into test mode to prevent system damage to the phone.

This made sense but i've seen people that have never rooted their phone get stuck in test mode.

I've only ever seen it on the Revo/Esteem so i personally think it's a hardware glitch that will just throw the phone into test mode at random. I know most phones have a safe/test mode so it's not unheard of, but I've only ever seen the test mode issue on these 2 phones.


I was one of if not the OG for test mode in the Esteem. I got into by downgrading. My USB port on my PC closed off, stopping the downgrade thus throwing my phone into emergency recovery. Because of that I had to use the "phonebook" option in LGNPST to restart the downgrade and let it finish. Well what I didn't know is that by doing the emergency phonebook option, it automatically puts you in test mode when the phone reboots. Luckily later on that night a guy over at XDA posted a fix for the Revo/Esteem and I was out of it. I tried everything under the moon and that ish had me so frazzled I could have beaten someone. lol. That's how I know that the ONLY way to get out of test mode is through the fix.

I wish someone would pull apart the test mode fix and see exactly what it does. If someone did that we might have a better idea of what actually causes test mode. I dont know anything about exe's though.

Was on #2 2.8 for days and hadn't molested anything. Phone went wacky while I was in a meeting at work.

Wish someone would pull the fix apart. It only took one hot second to run the damn thing, must be fairly simple. Installation and setup was the only tedious task.

That's what Im hear for homie. And yes I wish someone would pull it apart so we can see what is in it and what it does. That will tell us a lot. A LOT!

But yeah it's nothing anyone does unless you have a situation like mine. It's bad when even LG doesn't even know what test mode is. lol. Not their fault but luckily I think it was just localized to those phones, but I may be wrong. idk.


BTW, has anyone ever gave you the nickname "Bend Over Dover"? lol. I had a teacher in Highschool that was a fill in while our min teacher was in the hospital. He was young and fresh out of college. We terrorized the living shit out of him and we all called him Mr. Bend Over Dover. Needless to say he didn't last very long. lol. Don't know why I just thought about that. Hahaha

Yeah test mode is a pain. i have flashed and done everything under the sun to my esteem and never went in to test mode, including returning to stock with lgnpst twice. on my buddies phone all we ever did was root and use ROM #2. his phone went into test mode twice and i had to get it up and running for him. both times all he did was a normal reboot when it entered test mode.

Haha. Good times back in the day in the esteem forums. The shit we left behind is astronomical compared to some of these other subs I've been in. It's crazy how dead they are yet the little esteem that could had every mod in the world. Lol
