How much unlimited data have you used?

Barely any because wifi is literally everywhere now. I used to use a good bit but now I can barely even get 1gb. My billing cycle is over tomorrow and I've used .410 gb. Almost always on wifi. VZW unlimited btw

I'm on verizon unlimited still myself and never use wifi cuz verizons speeds are much faster then any wifi I've seen. Just curious but since you're still on unlimited what's the purpose for you connecting to wifi all the time?

Can I say wifi one more time, damn did it again.

Some people offload to WiFi anyway because of courtesy reasons. Why clog a cell tower streaming Netflix ALL the time if its WiFi available. Everybody don't got WiFi though.

Unfortunately I don't have a source for this, but I have heard that WiFi uses more power when your phone is idle as opposed to mobile data (but uses much less power when its being used). Unless someone was taking me for a ride and I believed them :p

Think theres a setting to turn off wifi while the phone sleeps..

The common wisdom I've always heard is that keeping wifi on is better for the battery.

BUT... On Wanam's xda Wanamlite rom thread, he suggests in his list of tips to improve battery life: "Set wifi sleep policy to "Never""

And in the setting that funkylogic indicated above for changing the wifi sleep setting :thumb:, the drop down menu options include "Only when plugged in" implying that keeping wifi on uses more power whereas the only caveat indicated for "never" is that it will use more data (from your carrier's allowance).

No doubt that plays a huge roll. Weak signal is almost as bad as the screen for power hogs.

In my screen shot above, I have a "very strong" signal for my wifi.

EDIT: But obviously if I had an atrocious 3G signal then that middle section of the graph would have a steeper curve.

But the point is, the wifi wasn't using more power because of a poor signal strength.
