Root [ROM] Number Two (#2) v3.0.1 {ZVE}

The youtube vid and the steps were very useful!

Btw, how to we know which the best ROM?

They all suck!
Custom ROMS give u nitemares and kick u in your special area while you sleep.
They won't even make you a sandwich or help you pay your bills.
Custom roms are proven to cause cancer in California.
Some dirty builds will give you herpes.

Your welcome.

Love,

PS.
I've heard that Custom ROMs are awesome, and the developers deserve mad props. THERE IS NO "BEST" ROM! All user preference and each device acts a little different. Best thing to do is try each rom and kernel and find your own persnal best. Just be careful and read all directions. #2 Is def the most popular.

Very nice so far, although I had some 2 hours of sleep in the past 36 hours issues that caused me to start from scratch. When I say from scratch, I mean downloading every application again, which honestly, might be a good thing given how long I've been using some and how many ROMS they're data has migrated from and to.

As for the problems I alluded to in several posts with my phone becoming zombie like after a few weeks. I had NO problems since my last update. The difference? I didn't use Rom Toolbox. Coincidence? Possibly and maybe the lag would have eventually developed given more time on 2.7 but, all of my "analysis" since v 2.5 points a bony finger at Rom Toolbox.

^Why Rom Toolbox?
What do you mean by why?
If you mean why did I come to that conclusion, then I'll try to explain.
Since v2.5 of #2 I had run into this strange, slowly developing lag that would eventually render my phone useless and my head bald.
Then I'd FDR (factory data reset) and flash the latest #2, and everything would be smooth as silk for a few weeks but then the lag would return and well, rinse repeat.

I began to noticed a pattern developing.
I loved ROM Toolbox but I started to suspect the app so I resisted the urge to open it and tweak things after an FDR. Time would go by and my phone would do really well UNTIL the urge to tweak with ROM Toobox overcame me. Thinking I was safe and that it could not possibly be the app, I'd tweak a few items (bootscreen, sdcard write speed, a couple of fairly common build prop edits and then wholly crap, a few days, or a week or so later, my phone would begin to become a zombie.

Rinse repeat that pattern six or more times and that's exactly why I came to the conclusion I did.
Along the way; maybe 8 months in total, I did look at other issues that could have been causing the zombification of my phone but nothing, and I do mean nothing, had such an impact on my conclusion as did the pattern I just outlined.

Hope that helps.
Any questions?

Hey I just downloaded this rom the other day, cleared data and cache, install went well. Having a few problems though, data is not as fast as it was since flashing, and my phone sends multiple copy's of the same message when I text someone, and it will also tell me it failed to send even when they recieved the message. Any help will be greatly appreciated because I like the rom.

Hi Djhumphries:)
Its not the ROM at all...Metro's issue.
It happens to me sporadically as well with text messages.
Not just the Esteem but other Metro phones also:banghead:

I think we have a winner here. I had some problems updating certain apps at first, but I force stopped, cleared cache on market, Google services, etc. After a reboot, all is well.

I had Bluetooth issues on the older version, even with the fix; those issues seem gone now.

This is great work, thank you.

I'm OC to 1.9 ghz, running Seeder on moderate, and I've got autostart s going. I also have deep sleep going with my extended battery. This is great. I'll hold onto this phone until galaxy 4 comes out on t mobile. =)

Thanx bro!
