Question: What kind of bear is best?

No, but seriously...I am eligible for an upgrade. I'm on a family plan, but not the main line. Does that mean that I don't receive a NE2 discount, just that I'm eligible to upgrade my phone? If so, the thought around here is that the phone will probably be $199 after a possible rebate, correct?

Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.

This has never made sense to me. When I log onto my account I don't see this kind of discount. One of my phones is eligible for the NE2 but the only thing I see is the 2year price ($299.99) and an online discount of $100 ONLY having me pay $199.99.......where can I see the NE2 discount? I always figured that the NE2 discount was the 2year contract priced in? I would love to pay only $99.99 for my new phone. Thanks!

Interesting, my phone is the primary, I'm 6 months past my NET date, but my NET discount is only $50.

My actual words were,

"Alright, you got me.

My name is Lowell McAdam, President and CEO of Verizon Wireless and for the past week I have been working undercover in the covert marketing department of my company."

Link to Post

Clearly it was a play on the Undercover Boss TV show.

I am not, and have never worked for Verizon Wireless. I have though worked at Best Buy, but that was 10 years ago. I currently work as a web designer/developer for an international automobile auction company.

I just got lucky finding that link yesterday, but I'm sure the two people who posted after me must have been VZW plants.

IF VZW sent plants to leak that information, i find it funny that they were actually beat here by someone who legitimately found it.

Anyone else see the humor in that?

I don't think PDAnet does WiFi tethering.

Well wifi does not work great on the droid without root but this is from the pdanet site.

has been one of the most popular software for Windows Mobile phones, Palm OS phones and iPhones. It is now ported to the Android system! PdaNet provides you with FULL Internet access so all your email, instant message programs will work without any setting changes. Supports both USB Tether and Bluetooth DUN. PdaNet does NOT require root access or hacking your phone's firmware in order to work. It is just a regular Android application that works on all Android phones as-is. Tethering is fast, secure and USB mode will also charge your phone at the same time. Your phone can either connect to 3G data, WiFi, or even through VPN and PdaNet will share the connection with your computer.

OK...Here's my situation. My wife and I both have Dares, and want to switch to the Incredible when it's out. My wife (primary line) is eligible for an Annual Upgrade (but not NE2) now. On MyVerizon, it's showing that I'm not eligible for upgrade until December:(. I know my wife can upgrade any time, but will I have to wait until December to upgrade without paying full price?

Yes. I'm in a similar boat (October 14th) and there is no amount of convincing that I have been able to pull off that will cause them to budge on this. You're also far enough away from that date that they aren't even going to consider helping you out.

apang, is it true the NE2 credit is basically only available if you purchase through Verizon? Do any premium retailers honor the NE2 credit? I mean, if Verizon direct is my only choice, it won't make me feel so bad about pre-ordering it online since I likely won't get a better price sans the credit. :)

Not that I am aware of. I went to Best Buy to see if my NE2 credit applies there and they informed me that it does. Now I didn't buy a phone that day so it might have been a ploy to get me to get one that day.

I wouldn't see why you wouldn't get it there or any other retail store. I know for sure that the independent VZW stores honor it.

Anyone from Best Buy able to confirm that the NE2 credit is usable if purchased at Best Buy?

I find it funny that, correct me if I'm wrong, all three "sources" had the text of the link as "HTC Incredible?" Blatantly obvious.
Without a doubt a controlled leak.

Dear Verizon,
Your marketing team FAILS in that respect (busted!), but SUCCEEDS because we all became like little giddy children on x-mas morning.

Yea, I knew it did USB and BT tethering. But WiFi tethering is very nice. Not every device has USB or BT (iPod touch for example). Plus it's cool to set up your own little hotspot for you and your friends on the go ;)

Here is a question or problem we haven't talked or adressed. With the VERY HIGH DEMAND for this phone do you think people will be camping out infront of Verizon Stores or stalking all the websites that will offer the phone. What is everyones battleplan to get this phone in their hands come release day!! I would hate to see anyone who has been on this forum this long not get the phone but it is a possibility :(

I can't input on the supply vs deman history on phones like this, however I will be calling the store the day before to verify stock, and then getting there 4-6 hours before opening just to be sure. I'll probably ride by earlier than that, then wait in my car until/unless I see others lining up outside. :)

Isn't the LG Dare a multimedia phone and not a smart phone? If you're not paying for an unlimited data plan I bet they'd bend over backwards to upgrade you and get you to sign onto a more expensive plan.

You are correct that the Dare is not a smart phone. Unfortunately, however, we're already on an unlimited data plan.
