If one had used a credit card on Facebook and it expired one could not cancel or delete the old existing account information without entering the details of a new credit card. Why not allow users to delete their credit card info if they no longer wanted to use them?

If one did not want to sync their contact info with their smartphone and their Facebook application why is it that it continues to keep asking to sync with no option available to not ask again and not sync?

If they were not evil why do their permissions require you to give them permissions to control and be account manager for account/sync/toggle manager? Basically if you do not wish to sync they can control the sync option and sync for you.

It's the principle. You signed up voluntarily, you should be able to quit the same way or delete your info without that nonsense.

Exactly.. It is the principle that counts. You should be able to sign up and exit with no requirements. Did we sign a life long contract with them just by signing up?

The only way to get rid of the sync option on any Google based smartphone for the Facebook application downloaded from Google Play is to sync contacts with Facebook. There is no permanent option to disable sync and they have a permission in their application when downloaded to give them power and authority as account manager to be able to sync for you on your behalf. You basically give them a power of attorney to do what every they want when you download and accept their permissions from the application store.

With no options I see them as evil. Below is an example from another application of how they reuire you to pretty much give them permission to control all settings on our behalf.

FB to the unwary can be a dangerous place. Not only is it full of spam links, but there are an awful lot of cyber bullies and trolls that use it to intimidate vulnerable people, especially young people.

I wish parents would take more of a lead in making sure their kids are safe online.

Very true. The problem is FB cannot monitor every post. Just too many of them. All they can do is respond (after a fashion) to complaints.

FB is in it for the big cash, the ever widening bottom line and every possible dollar.

Something else will come along people can hate, never fear.

Kids will always find a way to get to FB and parents are helpless to stop it.

As soon as parents do, kids go elsewhere:

So kids will leave FB and go to some other site that grows and become uncool, so the tribe migrates to some other site.

Nothing new there.

Parents should visit their kid's FB pages and be parent-like. Talk about embarrassing things their kids did as wee little ones and use out-dated terms like "boss" and "groovy." Kids will leave on their own.

There has to be some sort of law that requires them remove your account details such as credit card details after you have made a transaction. Say you wanted to promote a post or page and you paid for an advert. Paying for it is fine but say you only wanted to run one advert and pay one time only ad gave them a credit card that expired next year so they now have a credit card on file that you can not remove or disable for the next year! WTF?? What if someone hacks into your account and then runs all these adverts or promotions using your credit card info that they have online? You do not have the option to remove or disable this. I find this very evil of them to do so.

I reckon they are becoming more evil as in the old days one can choose to install Facebook or not install Facebook on their smartphone and now it comes preloaded on new smartphones like the HTC ONE with no uninstall option.

What we need is manufacturers to start making smartphones with flash drives so we can choose what they can access and what they can not access instead of everything being on one flash drive and them having access to everything.

Wechat has hopped on the same bandwagon as well. Here in Taiwan the new HTC ONE smartphone comes pre-loaded with Facebook and Wechat installed on the smartphones with no uninstall option. The permissions still show after Disable or Force stop when you look below under Applications and permissions. The application may have stopped but there is nothing about the permissions being stopped as well.

A start from Samsung here..

Is this HTC phones supplied by HTC themselves, or customised carrier ones? I know Wechat/Weixin comes on many phones supplied by China Mobile now in China, as well as QQ, Weibo, RenRen, etc.
