Root [ROM] Angry Bean / CM 10.1 [build 08.08.13]

omg someone help me with his horrible issue please. everything was running fine but all of a sudden my internal memory became low and my phone started acting up and apps wouldnt run properly and the thing is that most of my downloaded apps are on my sd card. I clear my cache but that doesnt do much. Then I turned off my phone and when i turned it back on it got stuck on boot loop. I was left to Wipe everything and install the recent version of this rom and its a pain cus all my app data is gone (user dictionary, etc) Has anyone experience this issue before cus i would love some insight. Thanks ! :D

Yeah rebooting and getting stuck in a bootloop is a know issue across almost all cm10.1 based roms for our device and the insufficient storage was probably a wimax log build up, the recent version has that fix included in the rom :)

Odd. But, maybe you should try a different file from joe_blow's thread. I used the one at the bottom of the list. His files contain the firmware for the phone, and should include a newer OTA as well.

The name of the file I used was 'VM_OTA-1.14_Hboot-jb1.50_twrp-241_PG86IMG.zip - 16.41 MB', maybe you can try it and re-flash. Make sure you verify the md5 signatures so you know the files aren't corrupted. I just renamed it and put it on my sdcard. Which of these files you use shouldn't matter, but...

Only time I have ever had this issue was when I changed phones, which isn't a smooth process with Virgin Mobile it seems

I tried exactly what you said and still no messages. This is really strange. Could you send me a screenshot of your APN settings? Use voice dialer and say "Open APNs"

∙ Broke off code from dastin - g60
∙ Synced all repo's with CM main line - g60
∙ Updated Touch Screen drivers - Chairshot
∙ Updated *.kcm files for keychars - Chairshot
∙ Updated bin files for keypress, touchscreen & touchevent - Chairshot

I have broke us off dastin repo's and will maintain the sync back to CM code so we continue to stay updated. Overall response in touch screen and keyboard is impressive. Chairshot did a hell of job on these changes!

Enjoy :D

Happy Easter!!

I think I've just solved all SMS problems! <happy dance>

NeoGraven, I didn't quite know how to parse the settings in that post... as far as I could tell my APN settings were correct.

Here's what I did (read to the end of these steps and I might have a shortcut for you):

1. Wiped all, rolled back to my Harmonia NAND backup, which has working text messaging.
2. Downloaded the Play Store app "APN Backup and Restore"
3. Opened the app, dismissed the warning message, created a backup
4. Wiped all, restored Angry Bean NAND
5. Installed APN Backup & Restore on Angry Bean.
6. In Titanium Backup, long-pressed the APN Backup & Restore app, chose "convert to system app."
7. Opened the app, dismissed the warning message, pressed the menu button, selected "Disable ICS check", restored the backup
8. Tried SMS... done! I've successfully received both SMS and MMS, and have sent an SMS.

I'm pretty sure this is what fixed it... I've tried multiple wipes, etc. with no results until now.

Now what I presume would be a shortcut for everyone else: I've attached my backup file... had to zip it to make it a compatible file format. Unzip the XML into a folder named "ApnBackupRestore" on your SD card, then start at step 5 and I think you should have the same result.

In other happy-dance-worthy news, I also figured out what was causing my available system memory to gradually diminish to zero... it was WiMax log buildup! So at least for me, that issue hasn't yet been resolved in the ROM. I'm assuming this is related to the fact that my WiMax cycles incessantly between connected and disconnected whenever I'm on WiFi?

Anyway, I downloaded and flashed the zipfile referenced in post #2 of this thread -- voila, tons of system memory!

Very, very happy to be able to stay on Angry Bean... hope my solutions can help with its ongoing development.

Thanks for the input, I have been working on Mms.apk based on Harmonia along with some other stuff. I am cranking a build now. If it works (crossing fingers) I am hoping for a breakthrough!! :D

Hadn't seen the 3/31 build posting before I posted about my two fixes. Installed it early this morning, restored the APN data and installed the WiMax log fix, and can confirm I'm still good on the SMS and system space fronts.

I didn't see any SMS or WiMax log related fixes explicitly listed in your release bullets, but if there were any I'd be willing to re-flash and see if the problems are resolved without the fix (if that would help).

I have not seen any problems at all with the Mms on the ROM so you may want to try and flash. Still working on some stuff, if it goes well I may have another release today.

Cool, looking forward to it. Yeah, as I've said, incoming MMS was non-functional for me, even on two different clean installs with everything wiped first (once for each joe_blow hacks, 4EXT & TWRP)... *until* I did the APN restore trick.

Camera controls seem to not be showing for Facebook and Instagram. ( maybe I need to resync ) Also is there a way to sync facebook contacts with telephone numbers?
The way Sense did? Kind of, first you need to sync facebook contacts. Then open the contact and select edit. Go in to the app menu again and select join, and it will allow you to "join" that contact with another. Not sure if that's what you mean, but that's the only way of "putting them together" that I know of.. You end up merging the two.

Cheers!

The Facebook contacts wont even sync for me.

Love the ROM and appreciate the hard work developing it!!! Don't know if it was removed for good reason but I see that File Manager was removed and I don't see any replacement for accessing files without having to download an app from Play Store or doing additional zip flash after the ROM loads. Just wondering if a File Manager type app could/should be included with the ROM to easily access files after flashing it without having to do any additional steps? Thanks either way.

I don't plan on adding the file manager back as it's a crappy app. It won't even allow you to copy a file from one folder to another. Here is a list of two apps I have tired and meet the purpose

Ghost Commander - I use to inlcude this in CM7 for the Triumph and worked with the delvoper to fix the app so it would compile with CyanogenMod.

Root Browser Lite
