Hi everyone, I have a Samsung Galaxy Proclaim from StraightTalk... I got it in December and have had no issues with it until now. My service ended on the 28th of March and all that day I didn't realize because I had been using Wifi and not mobile data. Anyway, once I was out of range of Wifi it obviously stopped working because I hadn't paid for service. As it spent the whole time searching for a mobile network, in a matter of 30 minutes it ended up going from 100% charged to critically low and was very hot, so I turned it off. Later I turned it back on and plugged it up to charge, and it only charged to 1% in over two hours and then powered itself off. After it cooled down again and I turned it back on I put it into airplane mode, because I wanted it to charge because I still use it even without service to listen to music. Anyway, it finally did charge back up to 100% and the next day I took off of airplane mode and used Wifi on it again just fine. But yesterday I purchased another service card and reactivated my phone online, and my account says my phone is active and it updated my service end date and everything looks right on my account, however when I dial *22890 I constantly get programming failed. I have a circle with a slash through it in place of where the bars usually are, I don't remember if that is normal when you don't have any active service or not. My phone number and MIN are both a series of zeros. I spoke with two different customer service representatives and they just sent me in circles. One had me remove the SD card and do a factory restore to the device in manual mode... still no change. They kept going on and on about bars and receiving calls, it didn't seem like they realized my phone never did activate again. I can still connect to Wifi, I just can't program my phone to get mobile data to work. For the record I still live and am currently in the same place where I have always used their service with no problem. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to Android Forums!! :) Did you check to see what was using your battery and RAM so much when it was getting really hot and dying? Just searching for signal shouldn't have killed a full battery in half an hour. :/ Have you tried reactivating your phone again through Straight Talk's automated guy (calling their number)? That might get your phone to restart your account. One time I let me phone expire on accident, and, although I was calling *22890, my phone wouldn't reset until I called someone. Maybe you should try calling someone or something. I'm not sure if I've ever seen the symbol you described.

I am having this same issue with the circle with a slash through it in the place the signal bars are supposed to be. I was on a call and after hanging up my phone rebooted on its own and that's where it has been since. Spent 30 minutes on the phone with ST and they say I have to call back during Verizon's business hours so ST can call them. I am not sure that the problem will resolve and I am expecting to have to buy another phone. Hope this is not the case but will see later today.
