Yeah, I can understand the frustration. We all want to get recognized for our work and discoveries :D It's also good for our tips and tricks to get shared to help enrich the community and it's always respectful to mention who helped you out although that doesn't always happen.

I would send a very nice and polite PM asking if he can give you a thanks in his thread. That is about all you can do.

unfortunately that is the nature of the beast some will come here and take a tip and place it elsewhere and claim it as their own. I guess you should be honored they stole your tip but that just doesn't seem right either. Some people have no morals

I think you are reading too much into it. I think he is just spreading the word and not actually trying to take credit for it. Yeah, the intro before the instructions was a straight copy as well, but it seems like he is just spreading the word and either being a little lazy about copying or your words more or less expresses his feelings as well. He didn't claim that he came up with it himself in his post, so I don't see where he is trying to take credit for figuring it out.

Personally, I enjoy posting on forums like this to help people and if they spread any helpful tips around to others, I'm all right with that. It means less typing for me if someone else forwards any advice of mine ahead of me.

Copy paste, the illness of the web, you can only ask them to mention the source. I hope they do. There should be a copy paste police someday...

Think there is. I know with some websites, usually newspaper and song lyric sites. If you do a copy and paste, there's some code in the site that automatically adds the site's URL as an attribution to what's been copied and pasted. Of course there's nothing to stop someone erasing the attribution URL afterwards, but it's an extra step the "plagiariser" has to go through.
