Help Why get Mail Still On Server?

Does any one know why some emails show up as still on server when attempting to read from an IMAP account? This doesn't happen to all emails and I haven't been able to locate a common reason (i.e. HTML email, has attachments, Rich Text formated, etc).

I'm not sure if this is just related to the Eris or the Android Mail app.

Thanks,

James

not sure why, because this has happened to me alot, usually with 1 or 2 particular senders....but its not the android mail app, because it would do it when i was using the K9 mail app too

When you are in your email inbox... Menu>>More>>Settings>>Send & Recieve>> Now make sure you have a check mark next to "Delete mail on server" Enjoy :p

I don't believe this is the problem he is talking about, because what will happen to me is i will get a notification saying I have new mail, but when I try and open the mail it tells me "mail still on server" and does not let me retrieve the new mail

rv is correct, I want to leave the message on the sever so I can pick it up with my desktop when I start my email program there.

I've trapped one message that gave this message and it is using RFC 2387 MIME Multipart/Related Content-type as the first Content-Type in the message body. I will be checking future emails to see if all are of this format. The message originated from CareerBuilder.com and I grabbed the raw message including headers from my desktop.

Basically when I'm not at home I stop my email program and monitor it with my Driod Eris. Then when I get back home I strat the email program and have it download the messages from the server.

I had the same issue where it said the mail is still on the server or whatever, anyway, I tried everything, restarting my phone, doing the whole safe mode thing & taking apps out; still... none of that worked. I had recently connected my cell to my home router wirelessly, wouldn't you know as soon as I disabled that I was able to get all of my emails again, even the ones that were unretrievable. good luck to you!

I had the same issue with 1 email, using HTC Legend and gmail IMAP. Here's what I did:

1. DEL the message on the phone. In gmail it will be labeled as [Imap]/Trash.
2. Went to gmail from pc and remove the label from the message thread. Marked the message thread as unread.
3. Back to the phone, I refreshed gmail app, and the problem gone.

Hope this helps.

I have an HTC with Telus. I could not receive a PDF and in some cases a jpg that was emailed to my phone. Email remained on the server. I could open it on my PC but not my HTC.
Changed my incoming mail server from imap to pop and it all works great.
There's a warning when doing it that you could cancel the account when your changing the settings, but nothing happens. Only change the incoming mail server and leave the out mail server as is.
This was a suggestion from Telus.
