Just because you see it that way doesn't mean everyone else does.

Just saying.

well...i'd like to see how other people see it....because it's pretty much true...with all the hard work we've had people doing with this phone and it still cannot be unlocked...it's pretty much bogus that LG/Metro did this to a phone...

EDIT: i didn't have a full word there...but thanks for the censorship....next time at least use a word i would actually use...this isn't the 80's...no one uses the word Bogus anymore

*sarcastic thumbs up!*

It's true that a lot of talented people have put a lot of time and work into this phone. We seem to be at a place where we need a really bright person who can find a way to bypass the loader,or to buy some as yet unknown Chinese guy enough drinks to spill the codes. In the meantime,I don't think it's a crap phone.Battery life is very good, certain things can be modified when rooted, and it's pretty quick.I'll be happy to donate to the Chinese drink fund.

The phone it self doesn't suck. But it being locked down does. & the fact that there aren't that many devs on it does too. But I do appreciate what we have already. But I can't really speak much about it because I haven't done anything for this phone. To be honest all I really need is a fully working cyanogen mod and I'd be more then happy with this phone. All the other stuff would just be extra for me. Unfortunately I really don't know anything about rils so I'm lost on that

I agree that the locked boot loader does stink. But if that is the only thing wrong, then this phone hardly sucks. Battery life is great (maybe not razr maxx great, but still good); it's fast; screen is good (small, but we all bought it anyway right?); it has a great amount of internal storage. Really, this is a great phone for the money.

When you get right down to it, the locked boot loader only affects a small minority of Motion users. The majority of people that bought the Motion won't even root it. I decided to because I wanted to flash the add blocker (found here). In my job at Starbucks, I see a lot of people come through the drive thru and the line inside using Motions. I bet none of 'em has rooted (I guess I could be wrong though, it's been known to happen :) ).

Cons: small screen, locked bootloader

Pros: low price, dual-core, large internal memory, has ROMs & themes, small size (unlike my previous Esteem...)

This phone rocks on stock rooted firmware. We also have a deodexed ROM & a working custom ROM (sorry CM users). The battery life is fine, the screen is just a tiny bit small (only have problems with one app), and I can put my favorite mods on it.

IMHO, you would not be calling it trash if the bootloader wasn't locked.
Yes it sucks that it's locked, but for the price, it's worth it.

We have CM10, just no 4G. I know someone who has SMS working, not sure about MMS. Don't ask me who, you'll find out soon enough.

Do we really need an OC kernel??? I think it runs faster than your last cell phone ever would.

Did your last MetroPCS cell phone even have ICS at all? I didn't think so. The Connect just got CM10 booting, just booting, there's still a ton of other things that needs to be worked on before it could be used as a daily ROM for the Connect. We have a CM10 ROM with only 3 things not working currently: SMS/MMS/4G.
Soon only 2 things won't work: MMS/4G. That's enough for most people to use it as a daily, throttled 4G is slower than 3G anyways.

Edit: and even with the Connect having an unlocked bootloader, they are still way behind us with the CM10 ROM, so be grateful how far ahead we are.

Well said man! This is the fastest phone that I've had and I'm loving it so far.

Its faster than my friends galaxy nexus that he just paid 275 bucks used for
and that galaxy nexus is faster than the original galaxy s 1 phone.

the gnexus is about to hit its 2 year mark, you cant compare newer devices against old ones, otherwise youd stand NO chances against the i9500 (octa core sgs4) :p

I'm actually using the connect cm10 as my wifi daily and haven't had most of the issues that i've had with hroark's cm10. (Besides the fact that I'm incredibly grateful for having a mostly working cm10 on the motion) ontop of the fact the connect is essentially at the same standstill when it comes to working data...

Thanks

But unlocked bootloader vs. locked bootloader, our phone should be far behind...we're lucky to have any CM10 at all.

Wait...OP is crying about a $50 phone? This phone is still better then the $350 connect I had.

This is where you want to be when Jesus comes? Picking on little old motion 4g.

50 dollar phone whom is the 1st phone I ever rooted ever had the drive to make it mine, as it was said this thing is kicking major booty, yes booty. I looked at a lg nitro, It wasn't a motion looked at a great majority of Lg phones of similar specs and they always seem to fall short somehow. I really like my phone.

No one crying over the phone, especially not this thing. I was just stating my opinion key word OPINION. How is it better than connect ? Don't say because, ICS,and good benchmark score. The connect is old now.

You answered your own question. "How is the motion better than the connect? The connect is old now."

Exactly why the motion is better isn't it? The connect is old even though it isn't that bad a phone but at $250 more than the motion I'll take the motion every time. As far as not being unlocked, well thats something we all have to live with and it doesn't mean that it won't get unlocked in the future.

For me getting the motion for $49 is still one of the best buys in electronics in years. So I'll be happy with it if it doesn't get to open up, but overjoyed if it does.

Being on veterans disability of $1038 a month with no other income at all means that I'm reduced to making due with what I can afford and was delighted when Metro dropped the price to $49, which is over now but even at $99 it would still be a great buy. Look at some of the prices of non 4g gingerbread phones. Many are still priced at $99-149. If you are that disillusioned with the motion then by all means please sell it and invest in a phone that fits your needs.

the percentage of ppl who root & mod their phones is like 1%. Does the Motion suck?? no, does its display? hell yes (a non hd display in this day & time is a nono). it having a locked bootloader suck? def yes, but doesnt make it a bad phone. Does is spank a GNexus, hell no, but it is faster, but doesnt have the display to take advantage of it.

All depends in what you want from your phone. ;)

This phone doesn't suck at all. Its an amazing phone. But I DO feel like the development is dead... At least until we find away to unlock the boot loader. But I am a little disappointed that nothing is going on for this phone anymore. I checked back after about a month, and not a single new thing >.> I need to learn to dev for myself haha

tsk tsk, you all dont have a clue what goes on behind the scenes. ;)

the bootloader has been worked around and you all have cm10, yet you still whine & cry. hroark has been busy with work and hasnt had time to work on it. I am seeing what I can do, but I have other projects too. SO, you all need to learn some patience or please, please go buy a device that you know has dev support before paying for it. NEVER assume devs will pick up a device just because you all deem it worthy. 99% of the time devs need the device to make any real progress on it and thus far hroark is the only real dev I seen with it. Food for thought. ;)
