Root [ROM] Aeneas 1.02 GB B.Y.O.R. 28Sept12 (Virgin & SPRINT!)

Sprint users....

One of you needs to take this rom, replace the build.prop, framework, and apps folder from your phone and you guys will have yourself a Sprint rom. Don't mess with anything else, and it should work. It's not all that difficult.

Or get those files/folders to me, and I can do it.

Edit: you should probably replace the etc folder as well. I would recommend the media and sounds too, otherwise ringtones and such will not work.

Easiest way to do all of this is copy out all of /system from your phone. From Aeneas, delete all Apps (except Superuser!!), audio and sounds, and then overwrite everything in system with what you took from your phone. That is your base and will leave you with Busybox, init.d and root.

Are these the stock folders from the stock rom, or just the ones I have on phone now, which is Tagged ROM? I ask because I am having alot of crashes with certain apps, and other stuff. So I was wondering if the files I have now would cause the same issue with this ROM. Thanks

On the stock rom.

OK, I tried the files from your stick rom file, also folder from inmy phone too. Get stuck in bootloop. I'm gonna try and re-download rom and stock rom again, may be a bad download. Ill let you know how it goes.

EDIT: I was just thinking, and I forgot to mention that from your Optimus Elite Stock ROM file, I deleted all the odexed files from app folder, should I have NOT done that, or would that even make a difference?

What I did was replace all of the folders you recommended in your Aeneas ROM, with the folders from your Stock Elite ROM, minus the odexed files. I also tried using my own folders from my system folder. Niether attempts worked. I even cleared all the caches and even tried factory reset from within CWM5. Again, none of the attempts worked.

Any advice or solutions would be awsome. Also, is there a way to pull the MSI code from within ROM? Have tried several methods for retrieving it, and NONE have worked. Wanted to use the 3g data speed tweak from the diag mode. But if its already included in ROM, then no worries.

Much Thanks LeslieAnn, you are my new Goddess of the Android Kingdom

Hi Leslie Ann, (and all experts,) not sure if this thread is still being watched, but this looks really awesome. I've been trying to change my ppp "an" settings (they revert to stock everytime I reboot) and am hoping I can permanently change them to pageplus settings. Do you think there is somewhere in this I can do that? The phone is great, unlocked/rooted, and everything else works. Sorry if this is a dumb question... but I've been trying to figure this out for over a month now and looking for help now. Thanks so much!!! Julie

First thanks so much for replying to me :) :) :)

not sure what APN means, sorry. Also sorry if this is the wrong place for this question, but I thought maybe I could use this modifiable ROM to change this setting..

Sorry I've never uploaded a picture, but this seemed to work.. the redbox shows where I keep writing to the phone, but then when I restart it, it reverts to the vmobile string. I figured it must be the rom that is doing this, but I really don't know. I didn't have this problem on my htc one v, so it's weird to me.

Hi, thanks so much for your responses. I went into ##DATA# and changed the data user id to the correct one, but the PPP AN string still reads out as the vmobile one in DFS/QPST. It's weird because I can change it with DFS, then read it back and it's ok- but then I reboot the phone and it always reverts to the vmobile string.

And, yes, I pageplus uses verizon.... I don't get good service with virgin so I need to switch it. With how it is now, voice, text, internet all work, just not mms- I believe it has to do with being unable to enter the correct value here.

Thanks again. Julie

OMG you're my hero! I see all the settings in there and can set them. Funny, I had installed Go SMS based on someone's recommendation but had no idea these settings were in there. Now I just need to add some more money to my account... lol

Thanks so much, everyone :)

PS I'm still going to do this ROM, looks so cool :) :)

Update: I added more money to my plan and verified that go sms was able to send picture messages, though for some reason only when wifi is off. I hope to find a better way or better program in the future, and if I do will post it ;) Thanks everyone for being so kind.

Update 2: After rebooting, the wifi/3g/mms conflict went away, too.
