I'm with you, i really don't understand this person's motivation at all...i've NEVER had any sort of "run in" with them, but they absolutely hate me. You should have seen some of the ridiculous stuff that was being said about me not to mention the pure inappropriate language and spamming...i just don't get it. Anyways, i have no problems talking to that person and figuring out what is causing all the anger and hatred...i'm sure they know how to get a hold of me if they want to have a dialoge.

it's all good anon. The much higher percentage of people here love ya and have nothing but thanks for all you do. forget about the haters

I will go ahead and brace for kickback now, but I have a question. Of all of the pictures I have seen (and I have not been able to see any of the videos yet), I have yet to see the phone in landscape view. Does the screen auto change from portrait to landscape when the physical orientation is changed?

Thanks!

hey real quick why would people buy the phone thru verizon if there is an instant rebate in best buy?

someone also said if you buy it online and you have a problem you have to ship it out and cant go to a store with it is that correct?

I've bought my last four or so phones online - - hell, on even on eBay - - and have had no problem getting them serviced or even replaced (multiple times even) in store.

The only time you'll have an issue is if a phone is being returned/replaced and the store is out of stock. They may just send you to another local store, or have you mail it in.

From the equipment guide, it looks like its only RCA though :( No HD

You're kidding right? I mean, while extremely cool SOUNDING, what is the practical application? For any kind of TV out for that matter.

"Wow, awesome play, bet I can get the replay on my phone...let me just open up my man-purse and whip out my 42" plasma screen during this here 7th inning stretch"

To each their own, but this is just plain gimmic-y, wishful thinking on so many levels.

So by pre-order does Verizon mean I get to order it and have it shipped and receive it before the Apr 29 store release date or I order it and I get to pick it up in the store on the 29th or I order it and on the 29th they ship it?

I'm just glad this whole debacle over release dates is over and Verizon finally gave us a date and we'll all be getting our Incredibles before the month is over, guaranteed.

i think some one cleared that up earlier...by pre order they mean u order it and on the 29 it should be at your house..but im not a 100% sure

Yes, that's correct. If you order if before 4pm on April 28th you have it delivered to you on April 29th. It was in the fine print at the bottom of the VZW Inc page and if you look back probably 30 pages or so you'll see loads of posts that include that image with the info highlighted by a big red box.

Have KNOW it comes with 8gig internal...has anyone confirmed if it comes with the 8 gig sdhc card? Or was that just a rumor?

Anon ended this debate with a screen shot that shows no card in the SD slot and 6.xxgb free of internal space. With the talk of some of the internal space locked down for apps, this would make perfect sense. Also, it's posted on the Phandroid frontpage. Debate over (finally!). Thanks Anon!

Actually, 2.0+
I wouldnt count out Wi-Fi N just yet..... ;)

Cool. I don't care a lot either way but if it makes its way onto my Inc, I won't complain.

can someone please answer my question...will the phone come with an sd card?

Definitely, NO. See above.

I just read this, don't know if it was laready mentioned. It says near the end that the $100 rebate from Verizon will be in the form of a debit card????????? WTH????????? Is this how it works at BBY?

Verizon to Launch HTC Droid Incredible April 29 for $199 - Mobile and Wireless from eWeek

If it's really a Visa Debit Card, then it should come with a PIN number. Go to an ATM and clean it out using the pin or buy something with it and get as much cash back as possible.

This is a stupid question but if i buy the phone at best buy, can i get it for a subsideized price if i have a two year contract upgrade available?

Yes.

Is this battery a Li-Ion or a Li-Poly?

Specs state Li-Poly

Please pardon my ignorance, but are you saying I don't have to go to a VZ store to switch phones/lines? I'll be using the wife's upgrade to get this phone and trading phones with her. Could I actually order the phone with her upgrade and then activate it to my number online?

Thanks in advance. :)

It's called an "Alternate Upgrade" and has been much discussed. I suggest doing an advanced search for alternate upgrade by the poster Viperboy (I'm pretty sure that's his screen name but it'll show you registered users when you search by username so find the one closest to that). He is a VZW employee and has explained it in detail. It's not only possible to do that but they do it all the time and you can call in if you've ordered the phone online for help switching it over. No store trip required.

I have backup assistant on my current Voyager. Will I be able to transfer my contacts onto the Inc?

Yes, if you use the online backup assistant which is free if you've registered with VZW online.

Pricing Question..If I use my NE2 and order online through vzw will my price be $149 and no rebate?

Phone Cost 199 on two year deal minus my NE2 $50 off. Online I believe is instant no rebate to mail in. Is this correct ..Thanks

Online with VZW, that should be correct. In the past, all online rebates have been instant and are currently showing that for other smartphones. But we won't know for absolutely sure until the 19th. :)

What's with the "activation fee".... I don't remember Verizon doing this in the past. Is this only for new customers/activations or does this apply for current customers who are upgrading?

you get charged activation?

I've been wondering that. They've "waived" activation for every phone I can remember for the past 8 years or so I'll be kind of PO'd if I have to add that to the cost. Especially, if I order it online because I'm then the one activating it. (Does that mean they should PAY ME the $35 ;) )

they "are" applications not many though.

Example, go to visit you good 'ole computer illiterate family. They want to see pics of your trip to see the Iceland volcano... Whip out you cable and show them on their TV... (much better then 4-5 people trying to crowd around your phone...)

Nice article, good read, good tips.

The only thing I cant really understand, is the insurance. Yes theres a $50 deductable, but thats cheaper than buying your phone outright if you broke or lost it...right?

Since insurance seems to be a topic of concern, I though I would mention a few things. My area of expertise is primarily commercial property insurance, but here are a few considerations:

  • Premium: For a 2-year contract you'll be paying $168 ($7/mo. x 24 mos.) in total premium.
  • Deductibles: Seem to be around $50. Add this to the total premium and you get $218 in out-of-pocket costs.
  • Recovery: This is the deal breaker for me. From my research, most of these policies do not provide you with a monetary settlement. They send you a replacement phone in the event of a loss (imagine if your auto policy did this!). This is usually a refurb and does not have to be the exact model unless specified in the policy.
Just my $.02. Personally, I'll be taking the risk prevention route and buying a case, etc. $25 seems like a pretty good deal to me. :)

I agree with you, I could care less about TV out, for me personally I have no idea what I would use it for. BUT I can tell you that I sure as hell have no use for RCA out, in this day it should be to HDMI or nothing.

The same reason your average digital camera outputs to TV. It may not be something to use all the time, but I've fired up a slideshow for family from time to time.

The 8MP campera is one of the main features they're touting for this thing.

This is a subject under much debate. Desire reviews say yes but are unclear if that includes the home screen. Would love confirmation of this one way or the other. (Not sure how that desktop dock would work if not...)

I travel a lot and when I stay in hotels I hook up my laptop to the tv to watch tv shows and movies that I have D/L. It will be nice to to be able to hook up the incredible to the tv for a change.

Just to add something to think about...my Dare (don't laugh) broke about 5 months ago. I had NO insurance on it. I went into the Verizon store and they replaced it with a refurbished one for .... $50. I am not sure if this works the same for a "smart" phone. I am not sure if the real differance is that you get a "new" phone with the insurance or a refurbished one without.

I will repost this because no one seems to have answered this or noticed what I saw.

As of now, there is no way to store apps on one's memory card (except rooting and using app2sd). Google has said they're working on addressing this issue, and it should be available as an update. They haven't given an ETA. We don't know how much of the 8GB is available for apps. Some have speculated only 1GB will be available.

Also I heard Slacker Radio is just as good or better than Pandora.
On my BlackBerry, I prefer Slacker. Station caching is great (saves battery, great for subway use). They also have a better/more modern selection of songs, in my opinion.
