Sprint - Dish - Clearwire - Softbank

That's the problem....money talks. Dish is setting up their deal to be more appealing to those making the decisions for the short term.

Money may talk, but Dish has NO standing in mobile wireless today. Softbank is the better choice for Sprint and their customers. I still stand by Dish standing no chance in acquiring Sprint.

Lets face it none of this is about customers anymore it's all about money. I wish Sprint could truly create an solid alternative to AT&T/Verizon but round here everything about Sprint still sucks. Dish actually sucks more then Sprint so this would be a match made in hell for customers.

Says who? Sprint is "truly" creating an alternative to the overpriced services provided by AT&T and Verizon. A vast majority of those living in live Network Vision areas can attest to this as well.

Dish was ranked as the Number 2 television provider by the American Customer Satisfaction Index last year, they have over 14 Million Subscribers, they employee over 34,000 people with 25,000 of them in the United States, they are based out of Colorado, they have valuable Wireless Spectrum available plus the Satellite spectrum that has little chance of interfering with GPS Satellites like LightSquared. Put all that vs an American company being bought out by a Foreign company and add more money and I see this deal being significantly more attractive to Sprint (in the short term). It really will depend on whether the share holders and powers that be want to be bought out by an extremely profitable company in what is essentially an influx of cash or merge with a similar company and become a full service provider. I would expect SoftBank to up their offer and not back away from the fight.

JD Power actually says the #2 customer service rating is split between Dish and DirectTV depending on their respective market.

Been there done that and personally used both Dish and Direct which they both suck. Which sucks more is hard to say as they will both do whatever it takes to keep you paying for spotty service. And if there was a single cloud in the sky there was a 50/50 chance that you might not be able to watch TV that day. Comcast was almost as bad since every time it rained the cable would go out just as the satellite based services would.

Well, Softbank can just devolve Sprint after the acquisition for all we know. Telecommunications is not their thing. At least with Dish there is somewhat of acontinued direction. My personal opinion, also. :)

I don't care either way, as I don't have a horse in this race, except for my personal checkbook. ;)

What do you mean telecom isn't their thing? They are one of the leading wireless carriers in Japan. They have the skillset to make a difference with Sprint, plus the cash flow. Dish is a desperate company trying to stay afloat by pushing themselves into a market they know nothing about.

There is much more to gain than money from a deal with Softbank...my personal opinion of course.

throwing a few more billion at Sprint may not accomplish anything...just way too much to gain with Softbank. Again, my personal opinion.
