Help Jelly Beaned my Battery

I received the OTA Jelly Bean, no problem. Did a factory reset, No problem.
But after four days, my extended battery is still draining before my eyes.
Prior to update, I could use phone all day and still have 25 percent left by 10 p.m. Now by 5 p.m., I only have 10 percent left. Can't get a whole day on one charge.
Anyone else having same issue?

Yes. With smaller OEM battery.

Yes me too. Wouldn't be such a problem except I cannot find where they hid the Battery Saver options that were there prior to the upgrade to 4.1.2

The Battery Option in main settings shows that over 50% of my drain is from Android OS.
I have a paid Juice Defender app - didn't reinstall after update, but think I'll have to go that route is the battery can't last a full day.

You may want to check the Smart Actions app for a battery saver function. I don't use that app, but it has multiple features.

As bad as JB has been on my phone. My exteneded battery has not been effected...yet.

I did a Factory Data Reset las week. My battery is draining faster than usual. I just cleared the cache. I will see if that makes a difference.

I've noticed that Wifi sometimes drains a large percentage of my battery according to batterybot.

Is it possible the Google Now (with the cards) has something to do with a faster battery drain? Since it's always looking for stuff passively (sports score, time to home, etc) wouldn't that kill the battery faster?

mines draining very fast too with the extended batt. I also did the factory data reset. didnt help.

The battery app shows that over 50 percent of my battery drain is Android OS.
I finally caved and re-installed Juice Defender after the FDR. Seems to have slowed the bleeding - but still draining much faster than before the update.

If I can't get through day with an extended battery - it must be real tough for the OEM battery.

Try clearing the Cache (see close to the last Tip in the stickies.) It might help.

I got to the Motorola icon, then the android icon. It has a red triangle with an exclamation mark over its keypad. The Volume UP/Down does not bring up next menu. Thoughts?

You have to push Volume Up and Volume Down at the same time and then release them at the same time.

(Yes it is a clunky interface and foreign when you first try using it.)

Worked that time!! I have tiny fingers and it was clunky - must be tough for anyone with large hands.

Now we'll see if that helps the battery issue.

I also just saw that my GPS was playing and I turned it off. I've been suspecting that it could be related.

For anyone reading here ... yes this is ALL guess work.

Files used to help speed up the system but old versions of the files can also have a detrimental effect so it's not a bad idea to clear them from time to time. The system will replace them as needed.

Cleared the cache, disabled Juice Defender last night. Even pulled the battery. Full charge this morning and now (2:25 pm EDT) at 40 percent. Had a constant 4G signal all day and no GPS enabled. Only used it to read maybe 50 emails, send a few. Seems to have slowed the drain a bit. I'll compare tonight at 10.

In my ongoing saga of battery issues since Jelly Bean, I just made two 3 minute phone calls and the battery went from 35 percent to 16 percent!
What's up with that??

My latest theory is that the problem with the battery is related to the Amazon Appstore app. I run that every morning to check out the latest free app of the day. Afterwards, the phone heats up, the battery drains rapidly, and I end up rebooting.

On ICS... I'd be about 60% battery remaining about this time of day and having run for 8hrs without a charge...

Now on JB, after clearing the cache yesterday as suggested, I'm at 90% after 6hrs so mine is certainly doing better.

Mine just died. Didn't even make the day. Took it off charger at 6 am - dead by 6 pm. And that's just checking emails and making two short calls.

Back to Juice Defender until someone can pinpoint the culprit or update the JB version.

I have Jelly Bean on my tablet and all the same apps. The tablet battery lasts days.
I travel for my job and work 60 plus hours a week. No time to trouble shoot what is supposed to be state of the art technology. I'm not the only one having battery issues since the update - eventually the collective wisdom of those here will find a fix -- as sometimes I have done for others.
