Just accepted Jelly Bean update on my Bionic

well everything seems to be okay accept one thing..
with the JB update, I keep gettinfg a notification from handcent saying I have 21 new messages. This is not the case. I clear the notification but then when I get a new text message I keep getting the 20+ new messages notification

Other than that everything seems to be faster and smoother. Of course its only been 15 minutes...not sure how I feel about google now either

I accepted the OTA to Jelly Bean (4.1.2) on my stock Droid Bionic this morning. I was planning to FDR, but those plans are now cancelled (sorry, Thom) because everything is running smooth as ... butter. Heck, I haven't even rebooted, cold or otherwise. I now have Google Now, Multi-Users, two new (crappy) Live Wallpapers, and snappier performance. For the first time ever, I now get LTE (2-3 bars, 12 Mbps) inside my house. Also, for the user that reported a dead hotspot, FoxFi works just fine with JB, continuing to provide a reliable and free Wi-Fi hotspot. My phone is not running hotter than normal, and battery life seems fine considering the download exceeded 320 MB. The only negative, as anticipated, is that ICS Browser+ is now toast. That meant adding lots of website passwords in the stock browser. I will probably have to reinstall flash, too. No big deal.

I tried to not do a Factory Data Reset also. I cleared the cache before and after the upgrade. Everything seemed great. I hate the sound that is made on a screenshot and installed the third-party app that turns it off. This worked great. I did notice that after I rebooted the option was cleared and I had to reset it. I had another issue (could not turn off lock screen on incoming calls) that I did factory Data Reset.

The third-party app that turns the stupid sound off on a screenshot is now maintained across a reboot. The stupid lock screen on incoming calls is still present.

The environment is so complex (and open) that the likelihood of not doing a Factory Data Reset is very very low.

I tried.

Thom:

So far, I have found only two issues ...

1] As you have reported, the FM Radio app for Droid X no longer seems to work. I am going to uninstall and reinstall it.

2] Amazon Prime Videos no longer stream, even though Adobe Flash 11.1 remains installed and seems to be running in the browser.

I have a practical reason not to FDR unless I find a major problem: 388 installed apps.

I am getting the same.

Just did a factory reset and it took care of it. Was trying to avoid it, but what the heck, now I get to set up a new phone!

By the way, the dock software is FAR better than the ICS version. Overall, performance is much better than in ICS. Very Happy.

Well, it seems that google play music app was the culprit, at least the fully upgraded version, I dropped it to stock, and boom the dock works like it should.

Here is the thread I found the answer in: https://forums.motorola.com/posts/96103e3f8f

granted it is for ICS, but seems to work here too.

I uninstalled the FM Radio app (Droid X version), then discovered that the APK can no longer be installed on my Bionic. Bottom line same as yours, no bueno. If you ever find a FM Radio app that works, please post it. What a shame to have a perfectly good FM Radio chip with no software support!

After my last post, I discovered new issues with the desk dock. I will try reverting Google Play Music to the original version and see if that does the trick.

Well I finally got my 6.7.246 last night but think I'll wait to see how everyone likes it and any major problems. When I brought my new to me bionic to VZW that said they did a factory reset since I bought it from ebay...so I hope they did since I installed my favorite songs on Pandora and another one..:)

I could be wrong about this, but I believe that they go in the order of one particular digit in the MEID. It may the last digit. I heard that years ago.

There are 16 hex digits, so to get it out in a week, they do 0s and 1s first, then 2s and 3s, then they may accelerate it.

Again, I may be wrong about that...

Just for information...

I spoke (a while back) with a fellow that was a System Engineer (big hardware) for AT&T. He explained that the rollouts (regardless of carrier) were designed to not overburden any particular segment of the network at any one time. Each MEID is associated with a location and they rollout upgrades to a certain number of devices in each "area" to keep from having issues with network traffic. If you tried to update every Bionic in say NY all at the same time, there would be traffic issues all over the state, but if you roll it out to say 10% of those devices at once, you don't cause much of a strain on the network.

Of course, this guys could have been blowing smoke, but the concept made perfect since to me.

Just FYI,

After a week my phone is starting to act like my OG right before I moved to the Bionic. The phone is very clunky now. freezes, then jumps, No more Moto-print, GPS is off about 100 feet (was accurate before upgrade) & 4G drops to 3G more than normal. I am fairly unsatisfied. I guess the "v22" critics were accurate. I hope V23 makes it better , although I'm about done with the whole MOTO/VZW boondoggle. the wheels are starting to fall off this jalopy, unless you can upgrade every 6 months. I think I will search out greener pastures when my contract expires next year.

I've noticed that my phone seems slightly slower to pick up 4G signals after leaving Wifi. I also have decreased battery life but I could probably adjust this by tinkering with some settings if I really cared. But web browsing and the phone in general is still faster. I had sluggish behavior in ICS and this fixed it. Overall it wasn't a huge change at all (though I didn't expect that). I'm still looking forward to my note 2

also no longer showing up is the voice microphone. Im not talking about the voice commands app. Before JB I had a microphone on my home screen. I would just tap it and say text [name] [message] and then hit send. Also could say listen to [band name] [track name]
this is no longer there. ANy idea where it went and how to get it back. The voice comands app sux and I just spent the majority of the morning trying all the siri type apps in the play store, none of them work the way I want them to like the app I had did

Did you do a Factory Data Reset after the update?
