Root [ROM] Angry Bean / CM 10.1 [build 08.08.13]

i personally would hate if someone randomly sent me a forum message with a link to the 4.2 compatible kernel download. its completely against anthrax rules.
(sigh) Had to go back and read my post to figure out where the miscommunication came from. I wasn't very clear, sorry... what I was hoping for was an invite, not a download link.

No... I'd like to join the site so I can actually read up on the options and make sure I'm getting something I want and that will work for me.

So restating: are any of you members of the anthrax-kernels.us site, and willing to help me get access BY GIVING ME AN INVITE? :)

Let's keep this relatively on topic.

In any case, if someone can't get access to Anthrax, I advise trying ButteredToast. In my experience, it's more stable (at least when I was using it on 4.1). Not a knock on Chad, just that I think he usually makes things a bit more experimental. On the whole, ButteredToast is the same kernel. Bigwillyg and Chad work very closely.

If you don't like the idea of having to try to jump through hoops to get Anthrax access and then work hard to keep it, ButteredToast is about as good as it gets :)

This is why the Anthrax site is locked down:

Anthrax Kernels facing a potentially gigantic GPL violation : Android

Obviously Chad thinks he can get out of the problem by limiting access to the site.

My experience with both Anthrax 3.7 and BT 16 was not good. The phone ran hot and battery life was shortened. Both of these kernels use higher voltages than either Mac 3.7 (the last one I checked) or recent builds of Mirage.

Thanks for the info, I was wondering what all the restrictions and legalese were about. Pretty wild situation.

From what I gather, though, Mac & Mirage aren't compatible with JB4.2.X/CM10.1 based ROMs like Angry Bean... or am I missing something? FWIW re: voltages, the ButteredToast thread repeatedly references an "Aroma" utility that's supposed to let you undervolt at flash-time, but looks like that's an ICS-only utility for now.

TWIMC, after initially not seeming to work, after a reboot I actually *did* have working Bluetooth on AngryBean/ButteredToast... dunno what else I did, if anything.

The new mac kernel seems to be fully functioning on 4.2 now. Been running it in dirty unicorns and bluetooth etc is working. Haven't tried it in this rom but hopefully would work.
Thanks... I've flashed the latest MAC kernel and can confirm it boots with Angry Bean. If I notice any differences/improvements/issues in combo with Angry Bean I'll post them.

Anyone looking for this kernel can start here.

MAC has a dizzying array of governor & I/O scheduler options... anybody have insight into the best option for those? I don't play games on my phone, so I don't need it to run at full throttle... I basically want to maximize battery life, with performance just good enough to prevent long process lockups.

Edit: After a couple of random reboots, I actually wound up stuck at the "Cyanogenmod" spinning wheel screen. Had to restore a NAND backup to escape. Uninstalled.

I also try to achieve almost the same thing as you. I haven't personally tried it on Angry Bean but i'm using the new Dirty Unicorns which has a MAC kernel, and I still swear by MNR with MAC kernel. No clue if it's the same kernel in both 4.2.2 roms, but my settings are 1242 max 192 min lagfree on both cores, and 90% of the time I can last a full day (16+ hours) with moderate usage. The longer the screen is on the quicker the juice will go...

Here's a guide I used to figure my settings out, hope it helps.

After a couple of random reboots, I actually wound up stuck at the "Cyanogenmod" spinning wheel screen. Had to restore a NAND backup to resolve.

The latest ButteredToast kernel also caused me problems... depite having my min CPU at 384, I was getting a black screen (lit hardware buttons) after the first few sleep/wake cycles.

For now I'm back on whatever's included with Angry Bean.

After installing joe blow hacks, installing AngryBean, GAPPS and VMM fix, Cleared Cache and Dalvik, Apps upgraded on System boot - I am stuck on "Android is upgrading - Starting Apps"

If I pull the battery and reboot it sticks on the boot animation.

I would do a Restore but TWRP wiped my 4EXT and it doesnt seem to like their backups.

TWRP v.2.4.1.0

I've been having my phone stuck booting several times, as in I see the cyanogenmod boot screen and it never fully boots. It isn't rebooting after awhile, it just stays there. Waiting upwards of 30 mins several times before pulling the battery.
I've tried:
wiping cache + dalvik
wiping boot and re-installing from a backup
wiping cache + dalvik again.
flashing boot using the cm10.1 zip.

I've done several clean installs, sometimes using titanium backup to reinstall apps, the last time I reinstalled everything clean via market.
Internal phone storage consistently around 50%, with a gig or two free on my SD card.
No additional mods installed, just full wipe+cm10.1+jb gapps+vvm fix+wipe caches. Normally I can reboot and it will be fine, but this morning I turned it off for a meeting and it didn't come back. Reinstalled 3 times this week.

Anyway I can help debug this when it happens again?
