Breaking the cycle!

I'm gonna make this simple and to the point. I'm in the dreaded "refurb loop" cycle right now. I have a RAZR Maxx (I already posted this in that thread). I like my phone and am content with it. I got it as an upgrade in June of 2012 right before the deadline to grandfather unlimited data. The only issue is the stupid headphone jack. I've gotten it replaced with a refurbished phone 3 times because of this and it's doing it again. I don't mind this for the most part because I've gotten so good at setting the replacement up so quickly and it's free on warranty. I've been just going to my favorite Verizon corporate store and they let me sign a screen, and send me one in a business day or two, I send the bad one back, the whole thing. The problem is that the warranty may no cover it after 2 more months. My question is, what can I do to get something else? I've heard of people complaining enough to customer service that they simply let the person pick their replacement. What should I say that may convince them to give me something else? I'm not fishing for a free upgrade, but I won't accept anything with crappy battery life or no SD support. Maybe RAZR M, Maxx HD, or even S3 (I heard on here that someone did just that). Any ideas before I call them? And before you ask, I clean my phone regularly, including vacuuming out anything and wiping it down. There is nothing like dust or lint in there, and it happens with anything I plug in, though m earbuds make it most noticeable.

I could be completely wrong on this....... but if memory serves me youve reached the magic number "3"

after 3 refurbs they typically will allow you the option of switching models to a "comparable" model........ now what those options are would be the true question

I would call in and speak to them... if you dont like the answer youre getting then ask to have it escalated to the next tier.. usually the next tier is ready and willing to compromise

I believe they did away with that as part of Verizon's "hose the customer" initiative. Which isn't to say you won't get them to give you something else, but it's no longer their policy.

Is the Razr refurbish or new? I'm just curious. At least you got something else.

With warranty replacements, I've only heard of getting a new one when it's within the 2 week return period after purchase. That happened with my Maxx because of data connectivity issues I had when I first got it. After replacing the SIM card once, they replaced the phone with a new one in the store. Then after a few more SIM cards, that issue was resolved.

Even that is difficult at times. A family member of mine had to really push and push to get a razr hd replaced with a new one and it was only 10 days from the original purchase.

The original phone had major battery and/or other issues. The phone would lose 30-35% of it's charge over a couple hrs on standby with the LTE and wifi turned off, and a 45 min phone conversation would damn near kill it. The new one has no issues.
