Root [CDMA] [ROM] - Evo 3D CDMA - PAC [OFFICIAL]

Hey guys, I'm new here. I recently flashed this rom on my tmobile galaxy S3 T999. I am more concerened about the battery rather than overclocking. I read somewhere that buttered toast kernel is better for the battery. Can I used the Buttered Toast Kernel on Galaxy S3? It seems like most people have HTC on here.... Also, which buttered toast should I use for S3? I just tried installing the Buttered Toast buttered4.2 like what's stated on the front page but it aborts whenever I install it.

I would think twice about doing this, as this Rom and kernel has nothing to do with Samsung, and you could and most probably will brick your device, your on your own here bud, NP gave you the proper section to post your question, this is definitely not the place, good luck, cheers

i'm one of the unfortunate souls where that didn't work, on the 4/17 build that is. anyway I tried it:
- file as is
- changing permissions to rw-r-r and owner/group to 0000-root, and rebooting (with wiping cach/davlik)

so far similiar story on 4/20:
- first after clean install, w/out replacing the libOmxVenc.so > pressing video button does nothing
- after replacing the file (and not messing with permissions), rebooting > pressing video button gets me a video timer, as something is starting to work, then freeze/reboot
- after changing libOmxVenc.so permissions, rebooting > stuck in boot screen :/

gonna try again...

EDIT:
tried again. no love.

- fresh 'n' clean install of 4/20, had to make a few calls for an hour or so.
- before having fired up the camera app at all, copied and overwrote libOmxVenc.so with the new one, changed it's permissions to rw-r-r and owner/group to 00000-root. shut down to recovery. wiped cache/davlik. rebooted. >>> when pressing the video recorder button, I get the recording timer to show up, but phone freezes at "0:00". I pulled batt and it started up ok this time.

Have you tried replacing the lib manually by open up the rom? I did it that way and it works.

I always apply the fixes in the rom and then flash the whole rom and not worry about flashing the individual fixes later.

You have to revert back to a Sense Rom

Ok I was curious because the sprint rep was trying to troubleshoot why when I try and download an app from the market and bill to my carrier option is used it continues to say cannot connect to mobile network even though I am on the network and can access the net on it. I wasn't sure if this is a problem with using this rom or other roms in general. So my phone got reset and told me to update the profile. Any thoughts?

Well to update profile you need to be on a sense Rom. So if you did a Nandroid back up, then revert back to it, update PRL and Profile, test it and then go back to your current Rom.

Thanks for the suggestion, and checking in. It's still being a doozy.

But I actually still have tried exactly that, in an honest fashion. I'm not sure how.

On my windows7 laptop, I did attempt it. Using "7-zip File Manager", something I grabbed form Source Forge, I opened it up, replaced the file, then re-zipped. But the zip file created did not flash. It's the only time I've had an error when flashing a zip in recovery.

I've been attempting recovery based methods. The most recent, and maybe equivalent your suggestion, is:
- full wipe, flash rom/gapps, wipe cache dalvik
- (still in recovery) use to aroma file manager to copy the lib file into the \system\lib\, overwriting what's there
- run 4ext's "fix permissions"
- wipe cache/dalvik
- reboot

no love. press video record >> timer appears, but freezes at "0.00" and eventually reboots.

bout to play w/ 4/25.

so is everyone else making videos with this rom?

anyone have a good guess why builds 04/25 and 04/27 (yes there's another one today) are being recogized by my win7 laptop's drivers differently?

04/20 and earlier was no problem: categorized (in Device Manager) as "HTC Device" under "Android USB Device". And adb worked fine.

04/25 and 04/27 are categorized as "HTC" under "Disk Drives".

I have usb debugging enabled and I have not enabled USB Storage (and win7's file manager does not see the "removable drive" either).

hrmmm....

did you guys have to update your puter drivers?

so...

still not sure why 04/17 and older builds didn't need this, and 04/25 and later builds do.

but here's the fix.

I resinstalled htc sync from:
https://support.htc.com/alerts_downloads/en/HTC_Sync_and_Sync_Manager_for_all_HTC_Android_Phones#Download_and_Installation_Instructions

this got my puter's driver to recognize my phone twice in Device Manager (?). It now shows up as "HTC" under "Disk drives" and (most importantly) as "My HTC" under "Android USB Devices".

then when I tried to run adb again, I got a "server out date, killing daemon" error, or something similar to that.

I ran the sdk manager and a installed that latest packages.

and everything's fine again. can run adb shell's 'n' stuff.

Paully I would post this info over @ XDA so CMB could see some are having this Issue, I rarely ever use the USB to connect to my PC, I use WiFi Transfer Pro, this way I can connect from any PC at anytime anywhere.

NP, that is what these forum are for, CMB does not always have time to check here, so I would always post at both, more eyes.
