Noticed some statements about some old apps not working yet.

Here's an old trick that has helped at each transition to a higher resolution phone with older apps - check out "Spare Parts Plus! (no ads)"

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.droidgram.spareparts

Uncheck Compatibility mode, reboot.

No guarantees and someone is going to have to be the guinea pig.

I've used it and recommended it on a number of phones with new screen features, no one has started a fire yet.

Basically, it gives access to hidden settings - not all of which are available on all models.

Like I say, no guarantees but it's not snake oil.

I'm a Chrome user and would like to set it as the default browser. On the one x+ you went to settings>app associations then set defaults from there, but on the one app associations does not exist in the settings. Any help?
I am somewhat impressed by the default browser, it's not too bad, but I like how fluid chrome is, especially syncing my bookmarks from device to device.

If you have two or more browsers you should be able to click a link from an email or sms and a small screen will pop up. It will ask you which browser you want to use. when you select a browser it should ask you if you want it to be "default" or "use just once". You could then select Chrome and default. If you have accidently defaulted to another browser you can go to apps in settings select that browser and clear defaults. I do not see another way right now, but I will keep looking and post an update if I do. Hope this helps.

Thanks... I don't believe I was offered that window (once, all the time, etc.) that you described. I know what you're referring to though. I'll try clearing defaults like you said. If I click a link in an email, twitter, facebook, etc. my phone uses the stock browser by default, and I can't remember being asked any other option. I'll reply back if I can clear defaults and re-set for a different browser.

Hello, is anyone else having issues installing the Amazon app store on the HTC ONE? The app itself installs fine, but when I go to open it nothing loads.. I've tried to uninstall/reinstall several times, reset after install, Nothing works. I am trying to download the TV portal app. Does anyone have a direct apk link for TV Portal?

I can't take credit for anything, might wanna thank the member @ XDA-DEVELOPERS in the link for finding this workaround though.

Hope you choose to hang around for a while & share your experiences w/us,especially in the thread for real world owners reviews here in the HTC ONE forum.

I found this in the SGS4 forum. Don't know how it will sort out here, but thought it may interest some -

Adobe Flash Player still works great on the Galaxy S 4, but only on some browsers. I was surprised that they have even blocked it on the stock browser. But it works well when used with the right browser. No root necessary.

Video Tutorial: Galaxy S4 Tips & Tricks Episode 1: How To Install Adobe Flash Player on Samsung Galaxy S4 - YouTube

Step 1: On your S4, go to Settings -> Security -> Enable Unknown Sources
Step 2: Download apk directly from Adobe. Adobe still updates Flash regularly every month, so use this link instead of downloading an old version from someone's private link. Scroll down to "Flash Player for Android 4.0 archives" and download the latest version.
Archived Flash Player versions
Step 3: Download Boat Browser.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.boatbrowser.free&hl=en
Use this for all your non mobile browser needs. Naked Browser also works, but the UI might not be for everyone. I hear the UC Browser works too.
Step 4: Open Boat Browser -> Menu -> Settings -> Page Content Settings
Step 5: Enable flash/plug-ins -> Always On
Step 6: User agent -> Desktop

Additional Note: Flash DOES NOT work on: Stock Browser, Firefox (Buggy), Chrome, Dolphin (maybe with a tweak?). Haven't tried Opera, Maxthon, or Puffin.

*Latest Adobe Flash Player (As of April 27, 2013): Link: Download Adobe Flash Player v11.1.115.54

YouTube links in FB or text messages etc do not open in the YouTube app, they go to the browser.

I went into the settings and cleared the default for all these items. Went back into FB and clicked the link, no it prompts me to pick which app to open link with, and they were all three browser choices, no youtube app choice.

Frustrating - does anyone know a fix?

I am not sure why that is happening in your Text Messages. When I click on a youtube url sent to me via Text (I am using the Stock Messaging App FYI) a window opens asking we to choose the App I want to open it with. At first glance it downs't like like the YouTube App is a choice but if you swipe up there are more choices. That window only shows 4 lines of Apps at a time. The same thing happens when I try and click a YouTube link on the FB app. At first it asks me to choose a web browser but then (after I have chosen the Stock Browser) it brings up another App selection window and I can swipe up and choose the YouTube App. I have had the behavior you are speaking of but generally only when the link is m.youtube.com vs YouTube.

Not sure why this got moved into this thread.. because I know how to set app associations. This is a problem that I am seeking forum support for. my phone will not allow youtube as an option in the list of options, even after clearing all associations. I also disabled and re-enabled the youtube app - it doesn't have an option to delete the app and re-install. I'm not going to get support in this thread.

Most of us try and read every post and support the best we can no matter where it is posted. When you click on a YouTube link in a Text for example does it ask you what app you want to open it with? If so what are your choices? How any choices are there? Can you scroll up further?

The link not giving you the option of opening in a program in a specific app is still related to an association issue. No one is suggesting that you are not aware of what app associations are.

If you are having issues with the stock behavior, open a trouble ticket with HTC.

You have done the suggestions I would have suggested, so while you wait for more help, opening a trouble ticket with HTC is a suggested step.

After I clear all defaults on all the browser apps and youtube (even though there was no default set because it won't let me) it still has this problem. I updated youtube and still the issue...

Ok my FB App does the same thing but when I choose Internet (the stock browser) it loads the browser and then launches another App Choice Window and I can choose YouTube. If you choose Internet does it then go to the website or another App Window? And what happens in the Stock Messaging App?

Sorry didn't mean to sound pissy marc. Just i'm about to come up on my last days before I can return the phone and if i can't fix this soon it's just too frustrating.

sikclown - you made me realize maybe it was an issue with Dolphin browser - which it was. If i choose chrome or "internet" it then gives option for YT app. But it won't work with YT. THANKS!

However... this sucks because I like dolphin a lot more and i never had this issue with Dolphin and my Note 2 or HTC 3D
