Root (Port) Behold 2 1.6 ( No Twiz w/ Busybox & Rooted Kernel )

Does anybody have the same issue as I do?
The main usage of this phone for me at least is voice chat over skype.
I used to use fring on 1.5(no touchwize BH_MAN's rom)
Then I used this rom, but fring call works for couple seconds, and it somehow puts phone in a silent mode. Even if I put my phone back on normal mode, from that point any application that uses sound cause a phone to freeze or give error.
Fring -> Voice chat -> Mute -> (any apps uses sound (such as mVideoPlayer)) -> Fails.
I tried to use Nimbuz next, it had better sound quility but it failed after three minutes, and the consequence was about that same.
So, now I put 1.5 back and using it.
Does anybody have had similar problem and solved it?
Thank alot.

First, I want to say AWESOME work you are doing BH_MAN. :D The work that you are doing to take an ok phone to a great phone is nothing short of miraculous.

Second, everybody out there needs to stop complaining about problems with BH_MAN's roms because they can't take the time to read the whole thread. He is the ONLY person I have found out there releasing roms and then improving them again and again. This is my first android phone and have had no problems at all by following the very clear directions that are given with each release. (I started with the first galaxy release.)

BH_MAN please, please, for the love of God, please keep up the GREAT work I thank you!!!!!

P.S.
This rom works perfectly on my BH2 and on my fiances. We even have great battery life. It is the best one so far!

I can confirm on my phone that I am seeing the same problem found in the Galaxy ROM. (Not surprising since they are similar samsung phones) The phone was showing 100% running and draining battery quickly when I had wireless location active. I turned off wireless location but left GPS location active and the phone still did not sleep until after I restarted the phone. Now spare parts shows the phone as sleeping most of the time.

Battery Left has not had time to completely calibrate itself so I can not give a good estimate of how long the battery may last. It is currently showing about 13 hrs with about 95% charge.

SU / Root Problem's..
First Reboot the Phone to see if that Fixes it.. Su via ADB does not appear to work, But it Fully does due to the Kernel having Full Read / Write permission.. If you still Can't get Root working, Run these Command from Command Prompt

adb shell
cd /system/bin
toolbox chmod 04755 sh
toolbox chmod 04755 su
reboot

These commands fixed su for titanium for me. A reboot alone did not do it.

Thanks for the help and I am sure i am going to get called names for this but; It did not work for me. I took out the SD card and it booted right in. I ran the adb commands

1. Info on Apps to SD (a2sd)

  • Before changing Roms while using Apps to SD use the following command and then power down:
  • adb shell
    cd /system/sd/app-private
    rm -r *
I never could get the * command to work but all other commands worked. My phone still does not boot with the SD card in. Can I restore back to stock and start over?

I don't know if you got this working yet or not but this is what you need to do.

Since you've already odin'ed and the phone locks up on the black screen when the sdcard is in, you have to do those commands in adb while the phone is locked in that state. If you let it boot up without the sd card and then put the sd in after, it will not automount the ext partition.

Just let it boot up until gets to the black screen and do adb commands to remove app, app-private and dalvik-cache and reboot... you'll be back up.

My Big Issues:

Internet seems to not work after wifi turned off
Quick Search box has crazy lag, doesn't function in many cases
Force Close on WaveSecure, Titanium Backup,

I am still getting the internet cutting out. Reboots fix it, but it eventually stops working again. :/

And I also have had the dialer FC twice on me.. once making the phone inoperable and I had to pull the battery.

I finally turned off wireless location and I have gps off also and I am now seeing much better battery improvements!

36 hours since my first flash, and I have 34% battery left. This includes no cell signal for 2 hours which normaly is very hard on phones. I have had the GPS off. When I first flashed with a full battery it thought I had only 89% battery and then adjusted it self. PEOPLE please follow the battery instructions, and give it a week to calibrate before going crazy on here. Please start another thread if you want to find what some of you are doing that is different to drain your battery.

BH_MAN you aren't crazy, the battery is fine :) Looking forward to the update with the auto OC like the galaxy.

Fully Charge before flashing!
As the Batterystat.bin is Reset via the Firstboot.sh that I've added... So flashing & then rebooting with Dis-charged battery Sets the Calibration Off First thing which takes even longer for the battery to register correctly via the OS!

Sorry if I wasn't clear, I did fully discharge the battery and then charge it while off before I flashed. That's one of the reasons I'm so baffled by the poor battery life.

I completely agree with you. I haven't found any other forum with behold 2 roms on it. In fact most of them point you to this forum and BH_MAN's roms. I was using the 1.5 no twiz rom and loved it with pretty good battery life, but I was hesitant to go to 1.6 until we could have the behold 2 camera app (I use it a lot) and vibrate (need to feel it most the time little bit deaf from bird hunting with no ear plugs). Now that BH_MAN has done that for us I have finally made the switch to 1.6. Yeah there is a few small bugs with force closes, but for my everyday use it works perfectly. So thank you BH_MAN for all your time and work you put in to these roms. I have no doubt you're working right now on a new version, improved version, bug fixes, or new rom all together.

Hey BH Man, got a quick question for ya, any idea how to "re-odex" a file? I know how to re-dex a file to put in a jar, but I'm trying to change that clock color and am pretty sure I found the code. But I tried re-odexing with smali, and pushed it to the phone and rebooted, and get hung on samsung screen. It's not in a jar so does it just need to be re-signed? Thanks BH man!

I am getting way better battery life on this rom compared to r8. I like the fact that I dont need to reboor the phone after charging. With just some text messages here and there, my phone goes about 1% battery for every 35 minutes. I have gps, wireless location, share with google, and all data sync turned on. Battery life while browsing, using navigation, and using other intensive apps drains the battery just as fast as any other rom, which is to be expected.

You cant just send a dex file without it being in the rar..

Also you cant re-odex, you simply De-odex a file and dex the source after changes. It is the dex that you place into the jar.

Just go to wireless settings/menu/advanced & set wifi to never sleep.
Go to Market & download WiFi On Off & place widget on one of your desktops & should solve problem until future fix.

After getting rid of my TMobile Dash 3G, I got my BH2 last week & after hacking & playing around with Windows Mobile phones, I am loving Android. BH_MAN is truly doing a great service to all of us who have had to hear everyone brag about their G1's, My Touch's, Cliq's etc. When we are all done with these ROMS, believe me when I say that this phone's hardware & screen is better than those others. Be patient for this ROM to mature. There's been numerous fixes already in the last couple of days.

For those of you who want the perfect ROM apps, just go to Market & knock yourself out.

Okay guy's .... Ill be working on the Rom updates later tonight... Please don't Post Bug's right now... I've heard back from all my tester's and they all have the same issue, I'll work on them when I get time...

Let's Keep this Thread clean please.

BH_MAN Thank you for your dedication I have used your 1.5 no touchwiz since you first put it out and love it. I don't know how you find the time and patience to work on all the roms. When you say this one is ready to go I am all over it :D Thank You
