Screen Protector?

I've not removed the shipping cover from the front of mine yet, seems to work as an impromptu screen protector.

I'm not a fan of them though, on the whole. They invariably look like carp and shouldn't really be necessary if you look after your phone. Each to their own, ofc.

I bought a DIPOS screen protector from Amazon (UK) market place after reading on some German forums that they were good quality.

It's pretty good, the cut fits the phone perfectly and the screen quality shows a lot better than with the default protector the phone came with.

On a similar note, does anyone know of any good leather cases that fit? I lost my original one and currently using an old LG Cookie one which almost fits. As Samsung haven't really marketed the phone, I haven't found any store that sells cases for this phone.

Since the screen is tempered glass, having a screen protector isn't critical. However, AT&T sells a matte (anti-glare) screen protector for the iPhone. Pack of three is $15. They reduce glare, make skin oil less visible, and allow your finger to slide across the touchscreen much more easily.

I cut the screen protector to fit on the phone itself. The sharper the blade you use, the better. Just be aware that when peeling back the protective coating, a static charge is generated. Any dust or lint in the air will be sucked onto your screen protector, so do it in a very clean place or under a de-ionizing fan.

Good to know. I have been a little wary of the big brands of 'complete case protectors' because most of them are known to 'enhance grip', which is fine for the case but not exactly what we want on the screen!

Although I must say, for the first two months I just kept the factory screen cover on it, which attracted fingerprints like mad. When I finally took it off, the glass was much nicer in feel and look.

Here's a tip used by hard-core pc modders (when putting windows into their hard drives ): Go take a shower! Afterwards, when the bathroom is nice and steamy, you have the perfect dust-free environment. Don't worry, the moisture in the air won't hurt your device (unless you keep it like that for very long time).

These screen protectors are too pricey. It's just a piece of plastic.

I'll just stick with the tempered glass.

Zagg just sent me an email and they do offer them now, I dont like the full protection tho its just front and back sides are missing....

I got that mail from Zagg too. I'm considering which to get - do you think the full body would work over the bumpy back of the galaxy??

I've asked zagg about how 'slippery' the screen protector is --because I've read in a lot of reviews that it provides very nice grip, which is fine for the back but rather bad for the display-- and they said "they wouldn't exactly call it slippery".

Please, get back to us about how nice it is for finger sliding movements etc. compared to just the glass surface. Thanks!

Well i've ordered anyway. Should be able to report back by late next week!

For me galaxy's back is pretty smooth and flush comparing to my N85 so im deffinetly considering getting it for improved grip

Its extremly good for grip but for the screen its difficult to explain... its not gripping your finger unless you try to stick your finger through the screen, if you just have light swipes and movements its perfectly fine, IMO i think its even smoother than the glass when you got oily hands but with light touch.

Well I said id report back when i had the invisible shield on, and i fitted it last night.

Highly recommend it. Anyone to pick up my phone wouldnt even realise theres a cover on it, for me i notice that the screen is perhaps a minute shade darker. But i don't mean like sunglasses darker, i mean like light blue is still light blue, but with the slightest hint more context. If anything it actually makes colours better.

As for the feel of it, your finger still glides on it perfectly. If u have a shiny steel surface, it's probably about the same as that. There is a slight difference in the feel (as the surface is no longer glass) and i think the difference is only noticed in typing. My first couple of messages i prob hit 1 ever 9 or 10 key strokes wrong, but i got used to it this morning and prob only type one wrong thing per entire text message now. So its something you get over v fast.

As for the back cover, it's excellent. The only place u notice there is a slight edge is on the sides. Those come in 4 seperate pieces. It turns out i have quite a skill for delicately sticking things on, so i got them pretty much perfect! But when u rotate the phone in one hand, u do notice the edges a bit, so im undecided whether ill keep them on.

To be honest, there is no way you'll find a better screen/back protector. And for $15 you dont lose much if you decide to take it off! Buy it!

I will say u shud not rush putting it on. I ordered it with an iphone one for my mate, and he had a bit of a nightmare with the screen (maybe his fingers arent as dainty as mine, i dunno!), but there are now two finger prints and 1 or 2 specs of dirt under his. Unnoticable when the screen is lit, but kinda obvious when it's black or off.

Well I thought I'd post my thoughts on this...

I bought an Invisible Shield one from Zagg, went for the full back and sides protection too.

Awkward to fit, but got there in the end, took some time to get the back and sides to fit correctly. A couple of tiny bubbles on the front screen disappeared fairly quickly, but was still left with some on the rear of the case.

So with everything fitted what was it like? Horrible IMO. I didn't like the feel of the phone with the back and sides on, you felt all the edges and the surface of the protector material has a slightly tacky feel to it that just attracted bits of fluff when you put it in your pocket, but I stuck with it for a couple of days.

After two days the rear sticker still had bubbles in it and looked naff and I decided to bin the rear and side stickers and just leave the front one on...

Which brings me to the front protector, it's quite a thick sheet (I'm sure it would protect the screen if I set about it with a knife, but I'm not likely to do that), has a slightly orange peel effect to it, doesn't let your finger run over it as well, and definitely cuts down on the screen sensitivity.

So in the bin it went, money wasted, and I now have one of these on MFX Screen Protector - Samsung I7500 Galaxy

Very smooth, clear screen, and much easier to apply.
