S4 For Metro?

samsung will win again this year not so much because they have the better device but because HTC doesnt have the brand recognition yet. sammy had to go through the same thing with the S2, note 1, S3, and note 2 to overcome the strangehold apple had on the market. sammy had better phones but they didnt have the brand recognition.

the one is a step in the right direction for HTC and we may very well see HTC as a FIERCE competitor for the top spot in 2014.

competition is good.

That sums it up.

HTC advertised their ass off for this phone. When you start seeing HTC demos at your local movie theater and wal mart, then you know they are pushing the hell out of that phone. lol

I don't know why but Sammy has just put a bad taste in my mouth with this S4 and their approach. And from all the reviews and hands on I've seen from Pro Android blogs, it seems I'm not the only one.

Something as simple as the 16gb model S4 only having 9GB of free space has gotten people really aggravated. So for the general public they see something like that and it puts that little bit of doubt. I've gotten more to the point that I look forward to seeing what they will do with their Note line. I really can't wait to see what they do with the Note 3.

Like you said, competition is great and we need it. We need Apple as much as we don't want it because there can't be a monopoly in the cell phone market. Luckily LG has been making big moves the past year and has some great things in the works. LG is really the only company I can see that could one day go toe to toe with Samsung. Being that Samsung keeps moving up that is.

Fuzzy I know you an Lg man all the way :p that Lg Optimus pro looks nice though Lg is not a bad company they also make excellent phones is just at the moment samsung is the mack daddy :p

It's funny because I didn't choose it. A companies direction for the future has a lot of bearing on my opinion of them as a cell phone manufacture. If Motorola can somehow salvage their market value, I would love to get behind them. Don't see that happening though even with this proposed "X-phone".

Don't get me wrong, obviously Sammy makes great products. Hell the Gnex is what got me on the Nexus bandwagon (from which I'll never jump off regardless who makes it :D) I personally believe the Note 2 is the best all around phone out. They know what it takes to get the average customer to buy their product. But something changed this time around and I cant fully put my finger on it. I just really hope they aren't wanting to go down the same road as Apple. :/

To me I'm more interested to see what they do with their S5. The S4 is just like a little upgrade, not really worth upgrading from the 3 like you said, but yes definitely a big jump for anybody who had anything less then a 3.

I think Samsung knew they had the market and that they didn't have to release a real game changer just something was going to trump the iPhone 5 and I think they wanted a phone out before anyone else.

If they do go down the Apple route I'll definitely start looking for a different company to buy from, however if they do try and make the 5 something innovative instead of just another small upgrade then I'll stick with Sammy.

Though I do like that HTC came out with such a good phone, multiple competitors in a market does nothing, but make things better for consumers.

Very well said.

Agreed.
Let's hope the Note 3 can make a good come-back for them... (that's the one I'm holding out for - otherwise, I'll stick with my SGS3 for now)

I know this may sound completely crazy to some ppl, but the Metro-TMO merger MAY just hold surprising results down the road, as to what phones/features we'll be seeing in the next year or so. (in regards to what I'm hoping for - a Metro/TMO Note 3, and the stock OS/features it comes with)

I may be wrong, but I just don't see it happening any time real soon.

I still have my doubts about the merger at least for Metro users. I really really hope it turns out good for the Metro users but I'm not completely sold yet. T mobile on the other hand is going to win either way.

With that being said I think the merger is playing an impact on what Metro will be releasing as phones here soon. I think they wanna wait and see how it starts to play out before doing anything. Let's face it, everything sounds good on paper but when you actually start the progress there's no telling what can happen. (Just like the 2011 Eagles. Picked to win the super bowl because of what was on paper and they failed miserably. ) :D

Here's my opinion, we might see the S4 but maybe not until the fall (being the earliest). I have a feeling we might see one of the other members of the android trifecta at the moment (Xperia Z, HTC One) first tho. More likely we'll see the Xperia Z first, seeing as though its been out for a while. Most likely we might have at least one or two flagships on metro with the others being on T-Mobile. This way we could at least have a comparable lineup to T-Mobile.

I could see that being plausible.

I agree with fuzz the gs4 isnt really much of an upgrade infact they might of just copied apple in just updating a few things and giving customers a bigger screen. they probaly was like eh we just make it the galaxy s4 make the screen bigger add a few new motion functions and call it new and watch us make millions. im sorry to say but thats what going on here. also if it ends up getting 5.0 key lime pie that should help its sex appeal a lil bit more.

If you've got a S3 then I honestly see no reason to get the S4. All the lovely gimmicks will be available soon for the S3 and Note 2. Now like Shabby said, the guys moving up from the S2 will get a massive upgrade obviously.

But I personally think Samsung dropped the ball big time. Even if they would have went with a more solid design or unibody shell, that would have been more of an upgrade than all the gimmicks they added.

Like I said, I hate to say it but HTC got em on this one with the One. BUT, the end of the year will prolly tell a different story with Note 3. :D

It's all smart corporate moves they know Americans love new toys and love to pay extra for new features even if it's something simple as a eye tracking features so for me is all corporate tricks watch the s5 will be a major redesign with more features then those that bought the s4 will like to upgrade

That's exactly what it is. They know, or they think they know, what people want. Gimmicks make money. But I think they over did it. I get the whole gimmick thing BUT little things here and there is what people have been complaining about. One of the main ones is the available storage. 16GB is actually 9GB. People are pissed about that. lol. Doesn't matter for folks like us cause i would be deleting half that garbage anyways. I think it's cleaner than the S3 though but I think something different was in order. Seems like they save all their nuts in the basket for the Note line. Which that's cool with me.

Did you know that more women than men use the Note series? O_0

Dont get me wrong, I think the S4 is a great phone. Just not for the people coming from an S3.

Not until the S4 drops down half the price and people have had their S3 for 2 years or so.

This is what has my loins burning. :D

I'm liking the front facing dual speaker set-up on the HTC.

Seems pretty logically mobetta.

Bruce in Ocala, FL

You know I wasn't too sure about that but from what I've heard out of those speakers, it's insane at the stereo detail and the range that they were able to get. Theres no comparison with any other speaker on a phone out right now. It's really amazing.

The whole Apple/HTC thing still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I think it's great that HTC has put out an amazing phone but it sucks that Apple is also profiting off of it. Greedy bastards.
