Root [ROM] Harmonia 3.17 17Nov12 (ICS\Sense 3.6)

Well, it's the old story, going back to Harmonia. I restored a backup and everything was fine until I let No Frills CPU update. It would not get along with Superuser SU and after a few boots, it was in a boot loop. I restored again, deleted No Frills and substituted Antutu CPU control. Now all is well. (Running Mac Kernel).

This brings up a major pain in the play store. It is not possible to shut off update notifications for individual apps. Breaking the links is no longer possible. perhaps I should shut off all notifications and set up the ones from the heavyweights like Google to auto update.

Sorry leslie ann I didn't mean to sound rude, I forgot this is supposed to be mostly a really stable stock rom/experience. I apologize.
No worries, I get a lot of inquires like that, I was just trying to explain why it likely wouldn't happen.

I didn't take it as rude, sorry if it sounded like it, my responses sometimes come across rather blunt.

is this rom as close to stock as possible? or is there a actual stock rom i am missing + root.

I'm trying to access the hidden menu via the dial pad. so i need a almost completely stock rom to do so.
mobs's wont work for this purpose.
This rom looks and works like a cleaned up stock rom (including hidden menus which you need), though there is quite a bit going on that allows all of this to happen.

Sometimes my touch screen starts wigging out on this ROM. It's gotten really bad lately. I can't do anything now. Anyone else have this problem?

Try using adjectives other than "wigging out" to describe your problem.

Have you tried another ROM to see if the problem persists? My guess is that it will, and you have a hardware issue.

I had this same issue, my phone was still under warranty and I called VM for support. Had to "fake" a system reset and call back the next day to say it reoccurred, they then sent me a new one. I remember reading once never do a factory reset on a rooted phone.

I have seen other people report the same thing.

This is getting confusing. The current release of Harmonia is from November, 2012 and would certainly not contain 2.95 updates. Whether Leslie Ann does another release with those updates is up to her.

The zip that Ramjet posted will upgrade the firmware to 2.95 on a phone that is S-Off, but it will not include other changes like the revised messaging app.

It is possible to use the Mirage kernel with Harmonia and it is based on 2.95 source, runs at 1512 Mhz by default and has many other enhancements under the hood.

It is also possible for S-Off users to use 1.58.5858 hboot with Harmonia. So, your phone can be 2.95 upgraded at the lower levels but not at the app level, as of now.

As for the future, Leslie Ann made a post (a few back) and it is up to the reader to interpret that.

Kernel, firmware, and hboot updates in 2.95 are available as you wrote. Regarding ROM updates, I am using 2.95 stock ROM but I don't see anything different from the 1.14 update, even in messaging app. I think the 2.95 update's main addition in the ROM was Connection Optimizer which I disabled immediately after the update. So, I believe, you have most (if not all) of the updates after the kernel, firmware, and hboot updates. I wouldn't worry too much about what is missing in the ROM.

Out here in user land, nobody really knows what was in that 2.95 update other than that highly visible and dysfunctional connection optimizer, which should have been named the deoptimizer. I suspect, but have no actual knowledge there were security enhancements. My opinion on this is based on the release being so late in the product cycle and a recently settled class action lawsuit regarding problems with the Thunderbolt. In other words, it is possible HTC saw some exposure and was trying to close the door on it. Again, I really don't know.

This is an extremely sloppy attitude for HTC to release an update without the details of the changes. I agree with you that not knowing what has been changed is not comfortable at all.

Does anyone have more information about the revised messaging app? What about it is new/improved? Is there a separate apk available somewhere so that our can be installed on harmonia?
