Help Is there a way to text from iPhone to Android and vice versa?

I recently switched from an Apple iPod touch to a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 phone. I have all of my contacts and have switched about 50% of them over. However I have 3 other people (2 on an iPod, 1 on a phone) who I have to still text over my iPod. I really want to have all my contacts in one place an be able to text them all with the stock messaging app on the Note 2. Any help is appreciated and welcome, if you need anything feel free to ask! (screenshots, list off the settings, etc.) Thanks!! :D

Text iPhone using their phone number instead of Apple ID or email. You cannot iMessage iPod or iPad. And if you have a lot of people on iPhones, some of them might ask you not to text them anymore. Because they are using iMessage instead of a txt plan, and when you txt them from an non-iDevice, they get charged 10 cents a message.

Not true. My fiance has iPhone and we text all the time. Don't know what service plan you are referring to

That's because your fiance pays for SMS monthly or it is included in the plan. If you are on an older AT&T or Verizon plan (not data shared), you have to pay extra $10 to $20 for unlimited TXT. If you don't pay for any TXT service, you have to pay 10 cents per TXT. Many iPhone users don't pay for the TXT message plan because they could "iMessage" aka Blue chat for free to any iDevice including iPod and iPad. The problem is once you are not using the iPhone, your SMS bubble will change from blue to green. Some has unlimited TXT don't care. Others who got a monthly allowance (like 200 messages) will not like that you are using up their TXT bandwidth. And Some who has to pay $0.10 per TXT will really dislike paying for TXT and may exclude you from any casual group chat.
