When my phone's lying flat on a table, it's easier to turn it on by pressing the home button rather than position my hand to squeeze the power button. When I'd switch on my Note 1, S2, and S3 this way, they'd wake up to the last used app screen, which is not necessarily a home screen. The Note 2, however, always returns to the main home screen. Is there a way to make switching on via the home button work the same as switching on via the power button? I don't use a lock screen, by the way.

I don't. In fact I don't have my Enterprise email/calendar set up on my phone because it would require that I lock the phone. I would rather sign in to webmail any time I need to check work email than have to unlock the phone every time I pick it up!

I don't think it'll let me install my Outlook mail using a third-party app locker. It prompts me to change my phone's settings to use a lock screen before it'll go any further.

Hi Jimmy.
We had a thread about this a few months ago but I just woke up and cant find it before coffee.
I don't know why the home key works one way for some and differently for others.
The home button should do just that--take you home cause that's what you told it to do by pressing it.
The power button should wake the phone at the same state you left it before the screen turned off.
I cant comment how it worked on my S2 simply b/c I don't remember.

No. My devices are all rooted, but I still use Touchwiz. In any case, I had the same home button behavior before rooting.

What version of note 2 do you have? Perhaps there is a difference in the stock ROM behaviour?
