Ok...I know I am probability 'Old Skool', but I like to carry my phone in a holster.

Has anyone found a holster for the HTC One that fits with an Otterbox Commuter case on it?

The best case for the One or any other phone for that matter is a beautiful case from New Zealand. Best for looks, safety and quality, wear and everything else. Check out Smartphone Protection - In a Nutshell

Took delivery of this today*:

Hyperion HTC One TPU Case Matte Smoke - Hyperion Electronics Accessories

This case is a slam-dunk winner.Low profile + an excellent fit,w/a very slight texture on the back, yet, still translucent, even w/the smoke coloring.Available in other colors as well.

Also comes w/a screen protector, sized to fit properly when paired w/the case,to avoid edge peeling & consequent bubbling,etc....

For $9.99,hard to beat for quality & overall value.

Here's a video I found on YOU-TUBE to get a better idea of what to expect. There is a mention of a slight cosmetic flaw in the case, which you'd be hard-pressed to find if not mentioned.
However,on my case the flaw is NOT present,as the flaw in the molding process was apparently addressed after the video was made**:

Review of the Hyperion TPU case for the HTC One - YouTube

This one is from DIZTRONIC,but, gives a great representation of the coloring of the one I got from HYPERION.

Diztronic TPU Case Review for HTC One Review (Gray) - YouTube

The hint on installation from this video may seem like a no-brainer,but,it does make a difference in fit.
I actually found that inserting the top side of the phone first, then bottom,to be followed by the sides, makes for the best fit,w/no pulling around the cut-outs that one typically finds w/TPU cases.

*Five days total from order date, direct from HYPERION,to delivery, free via USPS option.EXCELLENT!

** Upon further review, there is a SMALL remnant of the molding process.I say remnant (call it a BIRTHMARK,if you will) & NOT a defect, because it's either a result of an ejector pin/lifter,to facilitate removal of the case from the mold,or,what is called a gate/runner,where the plastic enters the mold.

Could it be avoided?YES,but,no doubt tooling/manufacturing costs were considered in the risk/reward of a better design to eliminate all cosmetic imperfections, resulting in a vastly more expensive product.

The location of this small mark (see video #1) is in such a place that one won't notice during use, less the most extreme perfectionists, & in no way detracts from the functionality of the case.

For those that favor a TPU case,I stand behind my original statement & consider this case + screen protector a SLAM-DUNK!

Which DIZTRONIC case do you have, the TPU case in my previous post (video # 2),or something else?

The TPU case. Fits beautifully as you know. Looks great. But I am a bit concerned about how well it can protect. We need some public minded person to put one on, toss the phone up in the air a half dozen or so times and film everything. :)

That's exactly what I have now (My wife has the purple one). Though it's more a hard case than I thought it would be (I prefer TPU), it still is quite nice. And I received a hard letter AND email stating when the new design (that doesn't block the IR blaster) is available, they'll send it right out.

Anyway you could get a picture of your wife's case? I'm interested in purchasing the purple one, but I would love to see what it looks like on the phone before I do in case it is too bright and I want to go with either the clear or the white.

So, I really hate cases... but for the price this phone costs I do want to protect it. I was thinking a Zagg invisishield full body.... but there are others too, iSkin and Ghost Skin... Also, otter box makes one (yet I saw a youtube video where someone punched a pen right through it).

How touch is the case? Does it scratch easily? How about the gorilla glass, is it as tough as corning would tell us?

Zagg screen protector is the way to go. Sprint threw in a pack of Fellow's screen protectors with my purchase. There were 3 in the pack, and I've already gone through 2 of them. I had a Zagg on my EVO and it works as good if not better than you'd want.

IMO, I would just get the screen protector though. The full-body shield isn't going to do anything against drops. No case really will outside of an otterbox.

As for the toughness of GORILLA GLASS,I'd say yes,it's tough/durable & highly scratch resistant. My previous 2 phones + this ONE w/GORILLA GLASS have held up well w/o a flaw to be found.W/that said,it's not bullet-proof,w/dirt & grit being the most likely of culprits to cause scratching over a period of time.

Shatter-proof,definitely not.Shatter resistant, yes, however,YMMV as no two user experiences are replicable in this scenario.

If you're prone to dropping your phone or exposure to grit/dirt is the status quo,at minimum get a screen protector & a TPU case, which there are plenty to choose from, right here in this very thread,or,venture to AMAZON or e-Bay for an even larger selection.

Of course a skin won't provide the protection that an OTTERBOX provides, however,a body skin will/should at minimum protect against surface marring & provide a minimal amount of shock absorption. It also provides for a firmer grip, which may prevent such drops from occurring.

HTC One Hammer & Knife Scratch Test - YouTube

HTC One Hammer & Knife Scratch Test - YouTube

I have the Zagg full body shield on my One now and I'm still back and forth about whether I like the back shield on...

I imagine this is why you're torn (directly from ZAGG's WEBSITE):

Scratch Proof
The precision pre-cut invisibleSHIELD applies directly to your HTC One, providing the toughest, most durable protection you will find. The invisibleSHIELD has its origins in the military, where it was used to protect high-speed helicopter blades from dust, dirt and debris.
Now you can use that same powerful technology to protect your HTC One. It is so tough that we back it with a lifetime guarantee. So, if it ever does wear or scratch, we will replace it for free, for the life of your device. And if you ever need to remove the invisibleSHIELD, no problem; it comes off clean and leaves no sticky residue.

NICE but........

Nano-Memory Technology
The authentic invisibleSHIELD film features Nano-Memory technology, which is visible as a very subtle texture in the surface of the film.

^^^^^
Perhaps not so desirable, however,it does provide a great amount of protection,no argument there:

This superior component of the invisibleSHIELD offers four main competitive benefits:
Durability - Self-healing properties offer unbelievable resistance to scratches and damage, and will extend the life of your device
Coverage - Greater pliability and flexibility allows the invisibleSHIELD designs to cover the corners and curves of your device better than the competition.
Ease of Install - The improved pliability also facilitates easier installation
Drop Resistant - Improved grip makes it easier to hang onto your expensive gadgets
Glare Reduction - The invisibleSHIELD gives your device a slight "orange peel" finish that breaks up glare and reduces finger print smudges, while still creating high resolution screen viewing clarity.

If you're still wanting the protection of a body skin, but, something that's not as thick/textured,etc...,there's lots of body skin options available:

Yeah sometimes it feels okay like when it's nice and cool but, heat from use/hand heat starts feeling not so smooth. But I'm torn because without the shield for me it slips out my hand pretty easy haha luckily it only happened while I was in bed so it dropped to soft blankets. Meh I can deal with it I will probably leave it on, although I will check out those other shields as well. Thanks!!

I'm looking for a case or possible accessory that can help with the ease of use with the One power button. Maybe I just need to exert some extended effort to retrain my brain, but I'm finding it very difficult to get used to the placement, lack of reference (the button is flush or sunk), and action (or lack there-of) when compared to prior HTC devices I'm familiar with. I'll get used to it, but I'd like to assist it.
Once I root I could re-map the function to the volume key, but I hate side power buttons (Note 2) and the One volume keys don't feel much better than the power button to me.

I'm not sure that I care if the IR blaster is blocked or impeded since it is a feature I don't believe I'll use. (I know this is probably opposite of what is being brought to market or what people are looking for :()

I don't like cases, so it would need to be extremely low profile and possibly clear. A silicone case might be alright, I've had one in the past that increased the tactile use and feeling of the power button which was very helpful.

Or possibly there is a power button key out there? Something like this for the Galaxy Note 2 Home button?

I bought and use this one:
Amazon.com: i-Blason SoftGel Flexible TPU Case for HTC One Smart Phone (M7, 2013 Release with 4.7 Inch Display 1080P) - Frost Clear: Cell Phones & Accessories

It covers the power button and the volume buttons with raised areas that make pressing them as easy as any other phone. My finger finds the power button every time. Highly functional, very slim, good fit, and clear. I highly recommend. And it is only 10 bucks.

As always thanks Sik, looks very good. I know you wouldn't steer me wrong, but how clear are we talking? I have the Black HTC One and anything short of transparent I imagine will be very apparent on the device.
I'm still open to any non case ideas too :)

Ahhh you have the Black One. The back of this case is frosted rather than transparent which is not noticeable on the Silver but perhaps would be on the Black. Still worth a try though for the power button functionality.

Check this TPU case out, looks to be quite transparent, even though the description states that it is frosted/clear:

Semi Frost Clear Hard TPU Gel Skin Case Cover for HTC One 2013 M7 Accessory | eBay

And one from AMAZON that claims to be transparent & clear:

Amazon.com: Transparent Clear Tpu Skin Soft Cover Case for Htc One M7 by ApexGears: Cell Phones & Accessories

The level of transparency is difficult at best to judge w/a TPU case, less buying it in-person.

Please keep us posted on what you choose & how well it looks w/your phone. :)

Try Gravity Screen Off from the Playstore. Turns off the screen when you lay the phone down or put it in your pocket and turns it on when you pick it up. Works instantly. I haven't touched the power button in a week.
