So, I'm a long time T-Mobile iphone user with a unlocked/jailbroken 2g iphone.
I've been really happy with T-Mobile; great coverage, prices and customer service. I live in the St. Louis area, however, I don't have experience with T-Mobiles's St. Louis 3G, as I'm using a t-zones hack for unlimited edge data. The "map" shows that I'll be OK where I live and work, so we shall see.
I've been thinking of switching to Verizon (and the "Incredible" is incredibly tempting), but I'm adequately happy with T-Mobile, and the prices are certainly WAY better. For $109.99 I can get 750 minutes and unlimited text and data for me AND my daughter. With no contract. I used to never care if I was locked in a contract, but now with the exciting new phones coming out all the time, I don't want to be stuck ANYWHERE for 2 whole entire loooong years!!
SOOOO, I think I've decided to stick with T-Mobile, and get the Nexus One. It's not that I'm unhappy with my iPhone, I still love it, it's just that after 2 years, I'm ready for something new. I've done all I can do with my iPhone, it's time for a change. I want to hack and play on something new. I'll keep my iPhone as a touch. Or my daughter will use it. Though I was surprised at the prices used 2g iphones are selling for on eBay.
My only hesitation is the fact that I can't plug it into my mac and have seamless integration. I love my mac and appreciate the ease of iTunes and iPhoto, I just think I should be able to do what I want to do with my music and photos and contacts and mail EASILY and SEAMLESSLY, without having to buy an apple product. I recently just spent a day converting all of my iTunes protected music to .mp3's so I could play MY MUSIC in MY CAR on an sd card. Thankfully everything new I buy from iTunes is DRM free.
Mac users out there, how happy are you with your android phone? I've read about many applications out there and about google cloud syncing and such, I'm just hoping I won't regret this change. There's something to be said for plugging it in and watching it auto sync.
Sure, I can wait, and there will be a 4g iPhone EVENTUALLY, but I WILL NOT, WILL NOT give AT&T my money, and even if it's available on Verizon, the service is TOO expensive, and I'll assume that the 4g will be harder to unlock to T-mobile... so for me I'd probably not adopt the new iPhone until a year after it's release if at all.
