Help Camera Shutter Noise

I don't see that Icon, I am with Telus. Strange, I was able to silence on my HTC Desire HD.

I'm with Telus as well and there is no option to turn off the shutter sound. I know on the original Rogers Note, I was able to turn off shutter sound. I know there's this 'privacy' issue of taking shots without someone's knowledge. Which is probably why some carriers opted to disable that feature. Though if the phone is put into silent mode, it does disable the shutter sound.

This app will allow you to silence the camera app

There was a thread a while back and I had mentioned this app. It didn't work anymore (at least not on my Sprint Note 2). I hadn't tried on my international, but I suspect it'd be the same result.

Just tried this one that you posted and same thing...doesn't work on the Note 2. Only solutions I've seen are rooting and changing the .ogg file or using an app like Silent Camera.

Funny thing is, I have another camera app on my phone which has a silent mode, but that still didn't silence the sound. Go figure.

Wow. Hate to hear it didn't work for you. I had it installed on my Razr Maxx, and now on my Note 2. Perhaps it only work for phones on certain carriers.

I'm on Verizon.
As long as I have the check box checked in the silencer app, it works fine for me.
Maybe other carriers have something going on where the app will not work.

Yeah, that's how it used to be with my Sprint version, but maybe Sprint added something extra that prevented this from working. It's too bad because I used this on my Photon without any issue and it worked perfectly.

Does the Sprint version still make a sound when the phone is in silent mode?
The Verizon version does not. I only need the app if I choose to silence it when not in silent or vibrate mode.

Yeah, it does. Sorry, I also should clarify that this app used to work when I had my Photon. Even though Sprint has that regulation, this silencer worked so well before. I was very disappointed when I tried it on the Note 2 and it didn't work. I'll likely root at some point when I have a chance.

Wow... I'm on Verizon, and it looks like the shutter sound option is disabled on my phone... that sucks! This is the first phone I've ever had that doesn't allow the annoying noise to be shut off... how stupid! I don't get it... why would a carrier care about this?

If I silence the phone, however, it doesn't make any noise.... what a pain in the you-know-what....

Merged threads..:)
Just like to try to keep things in one place.
It's cool, we cool...carry on :D

Quick off topic: SO glad you guys are keeping things organized. It can be so frustrating looking at new threads that have been discussed multiple times. At the same time, new discussions that have never been talked about get bumped down. Keep up the great work!
