Hi I don't know since when but it's been so long since the last time I connected my device thru KIES. Now an ICS update just popped out after I opened my Kies on computer and connected my tab. I'm happy at last update arrived here in Philippines for Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 P6800. So just updated mine so far my tab loads faster than before.
Have you updated already? :)

please tell me exactly how you did in upgrading... do i have to connect first my tab to PC and then, what's next? have kies already installed in my PC... thankx

I just connected my tab thru USB and open KIES on my computer. If you haven't updated your Kies yet an update confirmation will popup and after update another update for your device will popup. Update then wait...

Miyako, Yay for you!! My update did not require Kies connection but I am in the USA. All I needed was wifi access and I got the "Update available" notification. Once I made sure my 7.7 had a good charge on the battery, I let it do its thing. Downloading took about 20 minutes. Installation about 10.

Good for you! And I'm sorry about me because I am in the Philippines.

hello miyako, im from the philippines as well but sadly i have this trouble with my 7.7 tab wherein i get this message "your device does not support upgrading via kies. current firmware version : PDA:LB3 / PHONE:LB1 / CLC:LB1 (XTC)" everytime i connect to kies..after reading your post i thought of trying it out again and updated my kies so as to make sure but i still get the same message :( i bought my tab brand new a few months ago at memoexpress in our local area mall. I tried googling my problem and found people having similar issues with various samsung devices but sadly not much info on the 7.7 tab. the only viable solution that i've thought of and read would be to manually flash it with an official ICS ROM :(.. anyway just want to ask, does your tab's native ebook app still work after the update? i read that you only get a “service will be available soon” message.

Oh i'm so sorry about that but I don't know if I can help you regarding your problem. I just posted it to inform but I didn't know it doesn't apply to all 7.7 devices bought in Philippines. I bought mine during the launch in Eastwood last February. But I noticed your current version, are they supposed to be all the same LB1? including your PDA? Because mine, after upgrade is in all LP7 and the old fw was LA2.

Regarding my ebook yes it's working, it just that when I opened my ebook after upgrade, I have to redownload the app. After that there were no problems at all.. as of the moment! :D But i like Aldiko more. :p

Oh I remember a time when I brought my tab to the service center in megamall because of shutting down automatically during idle 3x. And all they can do was to reinstall a fresh firmware. Btw, before reinstalling the firmware from the center, I can transfer files from/to my computer thru bluetooth but after that, file transfer can only be possible thru 3rd party app. But it's working fine now after upgrading to ICS, no more 3rd party app for bluetooth file transfer. I already uninstalled the bluetooth file transfer app.

I'm not saying though that reinstalling a fresh firmware from the center can help you but in case you wanna try anyway its free. I don't like the idea of manually flashing my device too.

ok thanks anyway :) so far ok naman as is yung tab ko on honeycomb pero would really like to upgrade din since i experience some occassional bugs like magisa siya magshutdown though rarely. same with heating issues. really love the 7.7 for its great battery life and excellent display of vibrant colors and deep blacks. use it mainly for reading manga, books, some movies and casual browsing.

thanks miyako, its so easy to upgrade to ics, i thought it would be hard, until i found your article here in the forum. im still testing my 7.7 and first thing i noticed, theres very little or even no lags when you slide menus, the interface is refreshingly different than before. and one thing, i could arrange my apps on a folder for organization - one thing lacking in honeycomb where in the apps are all scrambled and hard to find. I like it. tnx

I have a plan of sorts. I am going to wait until my 7.7 is out of warranty, August of 2013, and at that point take a look at what is available in terms of lastest Android operating system. The new Nexus 4 is supposed to be running Key Lime Pie. So, why bother with Jelly Bean if there is something newer to install? I am guessing that a developer will map out the procedure for what to do.

The Nexus 4 is running Android 4.2 but that is still a version of Ice Cream Sandwich

Yes, you are correct and I am disappointed if I led anyone astray. I had read some of the speculative articles where it was anticipated that the Nexus 4 would arrive sporting Android Key Lime Pie. Didn't happen. Now the speculation is all about which phone will be first to get it.
