Well now that the black one is out I'll be purchasing it very soon. Amazon has it for $148, but they won't allow me to keep my current data plan and services. Costco will be my likely point of sale, but for now they only have the silver edition. No need to pay AT&T a whole $50 more when there are cheaper options out there. And costco waives the activation fee as well. Quick question to anyone who's bought phones from third party retailers on contract: I am an AT&T premier subscriber, but on 3rd party sites they do not factor in the 23% discount I get. AT&T will still honor the discount, right?
I'm also a Premier subscriber and I've upgraded through BB for my last 2 phones/contracts. I've never had a problem with the discount being applied, etc.

Very cool gesture g_patrick15.

You could have easily kept the N4 as a back-up/development toy/etc.....

KUDOS!
Thanks! It'll make a nice graduation present for him. I told myself it's Nexus or nothing from here on out (I've had 3 of the 4 nexus devices, the only one I've missed was the S), but the HTC One was too good to pass up, even if I'll only have it until the inevitable Nexus 5 comes out. We'll see. I'm so excited I can hardly wait for it to arrive Monday.

Well, since you mentioned a stock/NEXUS experience, have you considered cancelling your order & getting this:

Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition announced

Not trying to sway you from getting the HTC ONE,but,if you're wanting a pure ANDROID experience, this may be more to your liking. :)
I honestly thought about it, but I have a few misgivings about Samsung devices, namely the plastic exterior and (though not relevant in the case of the Google Edition) Touchwiz. After playing around with the One and the S4 at an AT&T store recently, I'm happy with my purchase. And even though I've paid close to that amount for phones before, the Nexus 4 has set a huge precedence with regards to phone prices, and I couldn't justify paying that much for a pseudo nexus, no matter how great the specs are. I know I'll get the itch for stock android (and it's updates) after awhile. Hopefully I can wait until the 5 comes out. I've been in these circumstances before. Got tired of my Nexus 1, so I got an iPhone 4. iOS was too meh, so I got an Inspire 4G. Sense, too, was pretty meh, so I went Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 4 back to back. I'll miss it, but the One has been calling my name. I really feel that it may* be the best phone on the market at the moment.

*I'll withhold final judgment until it's in my hands.

These are the phone that I have used (one at a time):

Dellx51v, MotorolaQ, Mogul, 800w, TreoPro, TouchPro2, HTCEvo3D, HTCEvo4GLTE, Nexus4

Almost wanted to get a Samsung but each time a new thing came up.

===============

I call T-mobile yesterday and they can sell you one for $580+tax and free shipping. He said after 60 days on with them, they can get it unlock for you. Or before the crackers get to it quicker.

BTW, because the One with T-mobile is Penta, its better than Quad band. So more is better. :)

What are the thoughts that Verizon will ruin the ONE if it gets released? Will they change the color scheme? Will the bloat it up? Will they change the form factor? Will they call it something other than the ONE?

It looks like Wednesday could be Verizon's announcement of the ONE, but I'm not too confident. But things are lining up nicely.

1) DNA on sale for FREE until Tuesday
2) HTC is ramping up production
3) Samsung S4 already announced
4) Nokia already announced
5) Google I/O passed without any mention of the X phone

That leaves very few OEMs available to make a big announcement on Big Red.

Any thoughts?

I would be extremely shocked if HTC modifies the One for Verizon. Not saying that they won't but it doesn't fit in with their (HTC's) entire marketing and sales strategy.

Back when there were a thousand different names for essentially the same HTC device, I would say yes Verizon would go out of their way to muck it up VZW-style. But it doesn't fit with the overall theme that HTC is trying to portray with the One. The writing was on the wall when we found out that Sprint's version would keep the name, One, instead of making it an Evo.If Verizon gets the One, it'll be pretty much standard with what the rest of the US carriers offer. The only difference is they may get that sweet shade of red that's been floating around.

I'd call the seller 1st thing Monday to confirm before ordering, especially if you're wanting one comptaible w/SPRINT.

If other retailers/e-tailers aren't offering it,I'd be a bit suspicious as to how they have an "exclusive" on such a model.

I'm not the least bit interested in a red One, and I already have my One, I just found this interesting since until this point, the possibility of a red one was simply a rumor.

I kinda figured you probably weren't too interested in swapping out for a mere color change,as you probably would have waited for such a phone to be widely available instead of "settling" for the silver/black model.

At this time,IMHO,the "RED" model may be backordered until available,if ever,by this e-tailer,as many sellers on e-Bay did w/this phone when it was 1st announced & charging a premium for the pleasure.

I'd steer clear of this offer,it reeks of counterfeit &/or fraud.

At this point I'm inclined to agree, besides, this is not an American company, so even if it does turn out to be real, it may not work with any American carrier. However, my curiosity has been piqued, I may end up contacting them Monday just to satisfy it.

When I see videos of it and HTC makes a comment verifying it I will believe it.
It's like the white Nexus.... at least we know that it DOES exist because there are videos of it being shown to people.

Red and Blue HTC One... yeah not sure I believe that one just yet.
They get 500 people to "pre order" then make like a sheep herder and get the flock out.. with your coin!
