Let me channel ocn here and suggest you use recovery to wipe cache and dalvik cache.
I can't remember if you are on latest firmware?
Also, kernel that came stock with the rom?
Lastly, maybe try a different version of gapps?

And you still have the problem with the camera? :thinking:

Do you have Titanium backup? Just for giggles, try freezing the gallery and see what happens.

I use QuickPic, myself...

good info.. thanks.. I actually just flashed Liquid Smooth and although I still get that gallery has stopped message, my camera works.. I will try that Titanium Backup/QuickPic idea

Why is Google Play Store is telling me several of my installed apps are not compatible with my device? Play Store build 4.1.6.

I think I got it. I had lowered the LCD density to resize some things. I changed back to default settings, cleared Play Store data, rebooted and I can now update the troubled apps.

I've had the camera issue - randomly. The last few times I went to snap a quick pic, I got the Gallery crash error followed by the camera closing. Just trying it now, the camera launched just fine.

I'd try a clean install to see if it helps. ....even though that can be a pain.

Dumb question, but I heard carbon will work on 3.16 firmware and s-on. Can anyone confirm?

Nope you heard wrong. All aosp roms needs s- off and not have the latest touch panel. But this give you a good enough reason to go and get your s- off

And that's why I wanted to double check! I'll gather the knowledge and courage to S-off eventually. I'll enjoy the Viper Rom for now.

it happens on every aosp rom from CM10 on up.. works fine on sense roms.. bums me out because I was liking that Carbon

well roms have some control when it comes to battery life, but the main thing that will help is having the right kernel. with carbon or any aosp komodo is the one i recommend(not that there are that many anyways).
