Would anybody recommend this phone over the HTC Evo 3D>

I sold my evo and got the victory. I would take the victory over the evo any day. The screen is a little smaller but that was the least of my concerns. I don't even have 4g lte in Phoenix yet and it still is a better phone. I got tired of how bright the evo was in the dark, this phones screen goes dimmer which is nice. The victory battery kills all the other phones. I get 16 hours on any given day of normal moderate to heavy use. The biggest issue I have with the victory is just that the automatic brightness sometimes at night goes bright and gets stuck and a reboot fixes it. Still a minor inconvenience compared to the evo.

If you make a lot of use of the Evo's 3D capability, are a big fan of HTC products, can't imagine using a phone any smaller or have a lot of large apps installed, you may not want to go with the Victory. Those are the main differences I can think of after having the Victory for nearly three weeks. (The only one I find I miss are some of the little niceties of Sense... for example, I ended up having to download a clock widget that let me set the alarm right from the widget, rather than a separate alarm screen.)

If your Evo is acting up, you may yet be able to get a warranty replacement through Virgin Mobile. My phone had begun to go through a series of system crashes and abnormal resets. When I called customer service, they offered a replacement with no further troubleshooting... and sent me a Victory since Evos were out of stock.

Another option, depending on your budget and urgency to replace the Evo, is to wait until next month and pick up an S3. It definitely won't be as budget friendly as the Victory, but you know exactly what you'll be getting if you do choose it.

Thanks everyone. Called up VM yesterday and they're sending me a replacement. They didn't say if it's an EVO or Victory, so I'll just have to wait and see. And I really like Google Now, but my main mobile only has ICS, so I'll appreciate the upgrade. The only thing I'll miss, is the 3D. Although it's a bit gimmiky, I do like it once in a while.

I thought I'd miss the 3d more than I do as well. It was certainly cool to be one of the only people with the ability, even if it wasn't practical since nobody could receive your images and so on.

i actually REALLY liked my HTC.. i only upgraded to this one because of the JB 4.1.2 and the fact that no phones ever get OTA upgrades on VM so i knew id be stuck with ICS forever.... my only real complaints about this phone compared to the HTC are that you cant put apps on your SD card and i hate how slow it transfers things from computer to phone over USB... my HTC could load GB's of movies and music incredibly fast... while this takes forever... ive also noticed my Victory getting a little laggy recently and I'm thinking it's got to do with all the extra bloatware... i have no need for Google Music, Magazines, Books, TV.. etc.. etc... im actually about to root my phone and get rid of all this bloatware and hope the lagginess goes away... otherwise, it's a great phone.
