Help Nova prime doesnt show internet shortcuts?

I'm simply trying to add shortcuts to the home screen in which they add, but aren't showing. Is this an issue with nova?

I switched back to Apex and Touchwiz and the shortcuts were there. Any option to have Nova do the same?

I'm not really clear what you're referring to.

What shortcuts? If you want to add an app shortcut to the homescreen, open the app drawer and drag and drop the app to the homescreen where you want the app shortcut to show.

If you already had APEX set up the way you wanted, there's also a way to import your settings on there onto NOVA.

Webpage shortcuts won't display to the home screen with nova. App shortcuts are fine, but with nova for instance if I wanted to shortcut this post/page on my home screen, it will add it but its not visible. Yet if I switch to apex, then the shortcut is visable.

Again, app shortcuts are fine, its internet webpage shortcuts I'm referring too.

Interesting. I've never really needed that type of shortcut, so I don't really have a "solution" for you, but I do have a recommendation.

The reason I've never really looked into an "issue" like this is because I use Android Pro Widgets, which also has a bookmark widget. The great thing is, the bookmark widget can be linked to my Google Chrome bookmarks, so I never have to place a shortcut on the homescreens. The widget allows interaction with the bookmarks (including folders), allows you to scroll through the multiple bookmarks that you might have saved, and once you click on a link, it'll launch from your homepage. I know many people don't like "paying" for apps, but Android Pro Widgets is one of my favorite apps (and is the reason I didn't mind losing HTC Sense Widgets or Launcher Pro Plus Widgets a couple years ago).

Maybe I'm not following you, but have you tried adding a "Bookmark" widget? That's what I use to go to internet page from the homescreen.

But I shouldn't have too. Do me a favor and on this page perhaps, if you're using apex or touch wiz, hit the bottom left options button and bring up to where you can "add shortcut to home page". It will add this page to your home screen in which you can then name it or give it a custom icon. And then at the click you're right back to this page. I use that a ton for a lot of forums I use.

Now after that, if you switch over to nova and do that exact thing.. It will "add" the shortcut. But when you go look for it, its not there.

But if you switch back to apex or tw , you'll see it.

It must be nova, which sucks cuz I love it...but that issue is bugging me.

Do you have any bookmarks saved for any of your Browsers? If so, this is what to do to get what I think you're asking for:

1) Long press on open area of any homepage
2) When menu comes up, click on Shortcuts
3) When next menu comes up, click on Bookmark
4) When bookmarks come up, click on the website link that will lead you directly to the one that you're wanting to have direct shortcut to.

To edit the shortcut
1) Long press on shortcut created on homepage
2) Click edit
3) To change icon, click on the icon on picture
4) To Edit name, place cursor in the field and name it what you like
5) You can even choose a swype action to launch that shortcut, if you like.

Man I thought this was going to be the answer man, but nothing is there for bookmarks.

I go into shortcuts, bookmarks and then im in a section and it says Mobile Bookmarks, I click that and it shows me Samsung mobile, and if I click that all I get is ATT mobile web, att wifi hot spots and yahoo.

Nova is not having "anything" to do with shortcutting bookmarks to the home screen, I just find it has to be either an unaddressed issue or there is something missing.

Like I said, if I roll over to apex and TW everything you said as well, would work.

The easy solution is just use apex, but man im just bummed since I spent the 4 on nova. I just cant see how this wont work with the flexibility of Android, know what I mean?

Basically the gist of it all right now is in Nova, I can bookmark things and access them via the bookmarks page. But i can not add a shortcut on my homescreen of a book mark within Nova Prime.

What browser do you use and where do you have bookmarks saved (if any)?

I just use the default brower.

Like i said with apex or touchwiz, i would go to all the front pages of my forums and add them to my home screen. I cant fathom how Nova simply does not let this happen, just seems like something that either is a hidden option or isn't implemented.

I see. I think the bookmark shortcut in Nova goes to Chrome. Trying to find out how this can be done. As I mentioned earlier, this isn't a function I normally would use, so I'm just testing different ways to find solution for you.

Ok, now that you specified you were using stock browser, I understand what you were referring to. From the browser, you were using the menu function that says add shortcut to homescreen. You are correct. From the stock browser, using that function won't add the shortcut to NOVA. I used homesmack to switch back and forth from tw to nova and all of my attempts went to tw, not nova.
That said, you should still be able to find the bookmarks you saved to the stock browser, if you have them sync'ing to your Google account.

Do you have your bookmarks syncing to your Google account?

I believe so, i mean its synced up as far as i know unless there is something else that i need to check for that.

But here is what i just realized...ok, if i save a bookmark in chrome and do the method mentioned above by holding down shortcuts, bookmarks etc...i can add it to the homescreen of nova.

How would i be able to get Nova to recognize the stock browser instead?

Check something for me.

1) Open your stock browser
2) Hit Bookmark indicator at the top right of the browser
3) What do you see listed on your bookmarks?

If you are sync'ing your bookmarks to your Google account, you should see your Google account bookmarks listed under My device.

My suspicion is that it may not necessarily be "chrome," but more-so that NOVA is not recognizing the bookmarks saved on the device (and not your google account).

Now, in order to move the bookmarks you've already saved onto your google account, it's really simple:

In the Bookmarks window (through the stock browser)
- Click Menu>Move to Folder>Toggle all your bookmarks in your "My Device" tab>Click "Done"
In "Select Folder" window that comes up
- Click Dropdown box>click Google Account>Click Wherever you want those saved

Once you've done that, your bookmarks will be linked to your Google account, regardless of what android phone you use in the future. Additionally, you should now be able to do what you were trying to do with Nova.

When i check my bookmarks, they were saved to "my device" .

Now i just moved them into the gmail account below, however when i click and hold down on the homescreen to bring up shortcuts/bookmarks, they are still not showing up.

The whole thing seems tied to Chrome.

Now let me ask you this, if i delete Chrome, think that might work around this whole debacle?

Disabled chrome and when i hold down the home screen and click shortcuts, there is now not a "bookmark" option.

Its just funny how easy Apex is in regards to what im doing here, i thought that adding to homescreens virtually anything was something that was universal to the droid phones without a hitch of hassle, cant believe Nova is being this wonky.

I've actually never heard of anybody creating shorcuts like this...most people I've seen have used widgets that show bookmarks, so they never need shortcuts, which is what I do in particular and I learned from many people on this forum.

As soon as your bookmarks are sync'd to your google account, those should show up. When you say you "disabled" chrome, do you mean that you uninstalled? If so, I'd just try loading that back up and make sure that your Google account settings are sync'd to Internet. Open chrome, and sync the bookmarks that you moved to your google account w/ chrome.

Now, that should give you the option that you were initially looking for. Yes, it's a lot of hoops to jump through compared to Apex, but if you really prefer Nova over the others, I'd say it's worth it...especially because now your bookmarks will be accessible, regardless of which phone you have in the future. Short term, it's a hassle, but long term will be worth it.
