HTC RHYME verizon screaming HELP!!!!!

yes the RUU was successful i posted earlier that i got my phone working again with a stock. its not the original one that i had with my phone but it will due, because my phone has stopped with the boot loop.

i have that exact recovery downloaded and before i flashed the RUU i had that recovery on my phone, so i dont think its been erased, do i need to flash it again now that my phone has been relocked? i dont think i can with it being locked.

my phone is working properly, what im looking for now is how to do an OTA update, my phone currently will not let my do an update manually, and the steps on how to root my phone with a rom for my phone.

not much more to add, other than it may take the OTA a day or 2 to happen. if you want to OTA to where you were,id suggest that you do not flash super user and recovery just yet.

glad you are up and running :)

okay good thank you both!!

Well i have done absolutely nothing to my phone since yesterday when we got it back working, i thought the bootloop thing would have stopped. but it hasnt, my phone went dead and i plugged it into the charger waited for it to be fully charged and turned it on, now its sitting in bootloop. please help me out what do i need to do, i dont want to have to factory reset my phone again

i was going to wait for a few days for the OTA before i run the superuser, and recovery but it looks like id rather just root and flash a rom if that will help fix the bootloop

Did you ever run the RUU that Scotty told you to run? You still haven't answered this. You said that you ran it before but he specifically said to run it again. Running the RUU that he said to run should be the first thing you do.

Some things might not seem necessary or important, but I assure you, we suggest things for specific reasons. Scotty is a pro with HTC devices, and he's who I run to when I get too stuck to help any further :)

I feel like we are not staying on the same page. We really need you to follow all of the directions and then inform us of what happens after each step. Don't jump ahead and the more information you can provide the better we can help.

I will say to run the exact RUU that scotty said to run above. Then do nothing else. Report back and let us know if there were any errors, etc, etc... Then we will move on to the next step.

I have said that i ran the RUU again like scotty said to do it ! i followed directions, if you would read in the earlier post i said i was running it again. then i thanked him again, because it worked!

and since then i havent done anything to my phone because i have been waiting like scotty said to wait for the OTA to update on its own, then after that i was going to root it, it has not done the update the only thing it has done since last night is go dead then start in a bootloop., so just now i went into hboot

(holding volume dwn, and power button at the same time, then i waited for the hboot, then i pressed volume dwn to recovery and pressed power button, now its sitting on a screen with a phone symbol and red triangle with exclamation mark.)

since yesterday after i ran the RUU twice like scotty said to do that is all i have done besides talk and text on my phone.

okay running the RUU again

thank you. IT WORKED!! but how can i do a software update? because when i try to do it manually its not updating.

.

i have been following scottys instructions correctly, i havent been doing anything else to my phone besides what you and him have been informing me to do,

There where no errors from yesterday until today when i turned my phone on and it went back into a bootloop.

Okay, sorry, I guess I misunderstood what you had meant. I didn't think you ended up running the RUU a second time. I'm not sure what would cause a bootloop after an RUU. An RUU is usually the fix all when nothing else will work.

If the phone isn't functioning properly after the RUU, I'm not really sure where else to go from there. We will have to see if Scotty has any other ideas.

The screen with the exclamation point is the stock recovery. Can't really do anything with it, it's very basic, but would be normal to be there after an RUU.

can i flash a different RUU??
from the HTCdev website?
no. you are limited to vzw ruus. the ruus linked on the website are for gsm rhymes, and will defiantely brick your phone(if they flashed)

please help me out what do i need to do, i dont want to have to factory reset my phone again

unfortunately, there isnt much to do. as brian said, the RUU should restore all partitions to factory fresh, and having issue afterward generally indicates some sort of hardware failure. :(

couple questions:

1)did the ruu fail,or error at updating at any partition? or did it flash in its entirety and the reboot automatically?

2)did you install any apps on your phone? it could be an app is misbehaving and sending the phone into the bootloops.

here are the things you can try:
-pull the battery for a few seconds, then boot the phone into "safe mode" Safe Mode - Rhyme

the RUU ran through entirely and rebooted automatically, i havent downloaded any apps yet.
my battery is built in the phone.so i wont be able to remove it
im going to try to run the ruu again

ahhhh if i had known that, ive effectively forgotten it

to simulate a battery pull, hold the power button until the phone turns off. this is a "hard reset" and wouldnt hurt to try that prior to running the ruu again.

yes i think my phone has to restart a few times to get it back running properly, the ruu was a success when running it again, when i turn it on it has not went back into bootloop, but the ota hasnt updated yet and there are apps i need to use that i was able to use before but cant because my phone is not up to date,

am i able to root and flash a rom that will get my phone to a newer version? i really want to root my phone now instead of waiting

you can root now,but i do now kow of any roms that you can use to update. you will be on your own to find something that will work. id be happy to take a look at any links you come up with.

it maY Be that the ruu that we had you run is not a release version, meaing the OTA may never occur naturally.

the basic steps if you want to root will be:
-unlock bootloader
-install recovery(make a backup!)
-install superuser root files.

what questions do you have on that process?

would this be my recovery? ClockworkMod 6.0.1.0 for the Rhyme
because i have already downloaded it once before. do i download it flash it and then make a back up?
where exactly could i get the superuser root files? im not sure which ones to use.
if possible could you list the steps for the root process or link me to a site that can help me?
and

i still havent found a rom to flash but i was wondering if you would know if a rom for the htc desire would work? such as in this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32528543
i was reading that it could but didnt know if it was for gsm or cdma

Yes that the recovery. That's the one I linked earlier ;)

If you still have it no need to download again but yes make a backup after flashing the recovery.

For super user go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053

Get the zip toward the bottom called:
UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.30.zip

You can flash superuser in place of a rom. It will root you. I'm not familiar with the roms for your device and don't see any in your ATR Guide...

The only way I know of to manually check for an ota is to go into the settings menu and then software update (or whatever it's called for a specific device) and then manually check for an update. That option was available on my htc phone though I can't guarantee for another device since I haven't personally done it.

yeah i thought there would be another way because its not working.

it could be that the ruu that we ran is not a release version,so the OTA will not occur. there is no way to force it,if this is the case, other than running an ruu for an official release build that will look for the updates.

seems a couple of folks had your same issue, from reading brians link. id try updating the play store as recomended and then try a couple more times to get the OTA to go thru.

ill see if i can figure out if any of the avialable ruus are release builds.

when i click on brians link it says the site need information to download i leave it running to see if it downloads and nothing is happening, but i searched a different way and was reading a few articles about the issue on updating, but havent seen a resolution

an app that i downloaded required me to update the google market "playstore" so i did i clicked yes, it took me to the market i clicked update, but it didnt update it still stayed the same,

i have also tried the ota several times since then and it hasnt changed anything. i think its the RUU that i used is older and wont do the ota update. im still in search of the RUU that is 2.20.605.371ORD

i have seen it but i cannot find a link to download it, ive searched and found sites that need to be translated, when i translate it i find the file but it wont let me download it.

just tried flashing the superuser zip from the site given and this is what i got

C:\Android\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20130514\sdk\platform-tools>fastboot flash
zip C:\Android\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20130514\sdk\platform-tools\UPDATE-Supe
rSU-v1.30.zip
sending 'zip' (1043 KB)...
OKAY [ 1.457s]
writing 'zip'...
FAILED (remote: not allowed)
finished. total time: 1.479s

C:\Android\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20130514\sdk\platform-tools>
