Root [ROM] Angry Bean / CM 10.1 [build 08.08.13]

Is there any way to get back the old school unlock screen? I just want something quick to unlock my phone.

Using the new "slide" lock screen for JB is very similar to the old slide unlock. One ring in the middle that can be used to open applications, or to quickly unlock.
I have to first touch the screen to activate the slide unlock. Then I have to slide to the right to unlock. Is it possible to get the old unlock screen back?

I may not be understanding what you mean correctly but why is touching the screen to activate the slide required using the JB one? I just slide to the right from the start, figured you were just asking for cosmetic reasons. I know the Evervolv ROM on XDA has the unlock screen option you posted earlier if its a big of deal but not going to suggest trying that ROM in another's thread.

Maybe there's an easier way to do it with this ROM. This is how I'm doing it:

1) Press power button to turn screen on.
2) Touch lock at bottom of screen.
3) Slide lock to right to unlock.

You can use kernel tuner to enable Sweep to Wake, that would eliminate the pressing of the power button. Other than that it doesn't get much easier.

Edit: I think the problem you may be running into is the "maximize widgets" setting;

go to System settings>lock screen> from there uncheck the "maximize widgets"

That way the lock ring will be centered, full size and all you'll have to do is slide it to unlock, instead of touching first, THEN sliding.

Ahh, that did it. I already had swipe2wake enabled and changing that setting eliminated touching the lock. Thanks.

Next on list: getting a battery percent on the status bar. MidnightROM had an option for a text percentage of battery level next to the clock. Can I do that with this ROM or do I need to add something?

ive noticed the anker batteries are definitely worth it. The battery is leaps and bounds better than stock. With heavy usage, it lasts about 2-3 hours longer, which is impressive given that the stock battery can only last 3-5 hours with heavy usage. Ive noticed that the camera app has longer shutter lag and pictures are blurrier than the JB 4.1 camera app. Is anyone else noticing this?
