Root Internal Memory

Not sure what I need to do, but I constantly get a low memory notification when the internal memory hits around 40 meg.
Using TP Pro at the bottom of the screen shows the three memory locations.

Mine are listed:

System ROM 314 MB (135 MB free)
INTERNAL 419 MB (40.4 MB free) <---- not much available
SD Card 7.93 GB (5.51 GB free)

I have everything on the SD card that will move using TP Pro. I did free up some memory by removing the zillion text messages I had, and it brought me up to 65 MB free internal memory for a while and now its back to the warning point.

I guess I'm looking for a way to see exactly what is on the INTERNAL memory so that I can either remove it or find a way to free up some more.

Can I use ES File explorer? I hunted around and could not figure it out.

Thanks

Funny you should ask. I do get forced closures for an andriod process that does not seem to affect anything.
I sometimes will get a forced close for Facebook or the program I happen to be using at the time.

Would a data reset cause a complete reload of the ROM? Or is it semi safe? Will I lose all my stored number/photos/etc?
Cause that would suck.

Any way to "see" exactly what is in the internal storage?

There is a way but if you are not sure of what you are looking at then it is kinda useless. Not trying to be mean but if you delete the wrong thing then you could have a brick. Try this and run it in safe mode for a couple hours. Just do the normal thing with the phone and see if the phone has any force closing problems . How to get into safe mode: restart phone when the phone has loading under the gzone logo. Hit and hold the menu button. Then as soon as the soft key buttons(menu, home, back, search) light up
Hit the power button and the let go of both. The phone will have safe mode on bottom left corner of screen. Ok you can back up all your thing on your phone. And factory data wipe will not wipe your sdcard. Let me know whar happens in safe mode. Safe mode will only run stock system no apps from play store so if there is a problem with a app you downloaded this should let you know.

I think I found a way to increase it a little bit. I looked at the app chart inside TPP and found I had some apps with a lot of "data" being used. Some up to 14.5 meg. They were associated with CNN, and other news sources. Just by removing the data portion of the app, it moved me from 40.4 meg free to a whopping 66.5 free. Not a huge difference but. . . . . . . . :thrasher:

I've been using Link2SD with great results.

It requires a second ext partition on the sdcard & links apps to that. Benefits being the apps still run even in usb mass storage mode, & though they say widgets probably won't work not a single one I have is messed up.

Here's my current free space:

Pardon me for posting on an old thread, but this seemed most relevant to my issue:

I just rooted my M130 commando using Willster419's guide (thanks man) and removed nearly all of the apps on Oregon2's list (with only a couple of exceptions) using Titanium Backup. Even after all of that, however, I notice little to no improvement in internal storage. I'm still at around 60MB free, and my phone is still a bit sluggish. Is there something else I need to do to free up some more internal memory and speed my phone up?

I am extremely new to the rooting scene, so I'm sorry if I'm asking something that has already been answered!

Mine is rooted also on M080 software and I also removed all the bloatware and have the same issues with only the internal memory. I constantly get the "low memory" warning of 40 mb.
Did some investigating and found a few things that directly effect the amount of memory.
1. I noticed that I never deleted old text messages. I'm using GoSMS Pro and after I deleted all the trash and sent folders I went from 40 to 65mb.
2. News apps hold a lot in the cache that can rob memory. Using either TP or Link2SD I was able to see which programs held the most cache and deleted them. Memory jumped to 75mb (the most I have every had!)
3. Browsers also hold a lot of cache, deleted the cache and it jumped again!

The only issue is that when you start to pile up texts, emails, and webpages, you are back to the "low memory" warning and have to do it all over again.

What were they thinking when they designed the phone to only provide 400mb of internal memory? The replacement C811 is touted to have 1g, so this issue will be no more!

Thanks for the tip - I'm now at 112mb, but like you said, it doesn't take much browsing or app usage to make that sink. I agree that 400mb of internal memory is asinine, but unfortunately I'm stuck with this for another two years =/.

Anyway, thanks again for the reply. It's an improvement!
