This is why I have chosen to not do business with Verizon anymore.
I got so tired of the lack of device choices and when they had it they were so locked down they would make Apple jealous.

I bet that Verizon people would rejoice when they kill the CDMA network.. BUT I have been told that the plan is to reject any IMEI that is not in their system once the CDMA network is decommissioned.

That means no GSM phones for Verizon peeps.
I am told that they are looking into the "legal aspects" of that.

By then I am sure the Mcadams and shamu show will have lobbied for a new, friendlier FCC that Obama is giving them on a silver platter.

I can't see Verizon getting a One... HTC has been a little too friendly to the enemies of Verizon - their customers or potential customers.

It would have been an even bigger success.
I bet HTC wanted more control than Verizon would allow and that's why we don't have it.
The other more probable reason is that there will be a droid branded version that Verizon wants.

Thing is... I would imagine by now there would have been leaks... Fuzzycam images.. something...

there have been leaked pictures recently....even people having them in hand. But who knows...when it comes to HTC and verizon, its hard to even believe it when you have it in your own hand.

Plus the reason for the delay i believe was supply...they just didn't have enough phones to be able to support Verizon.

I wonder how much more success the HTC One would have been had they also released on Verizon.

Just speculating:

HTC is looking @ the long-term, & although sales of the ONE surely would've been much better w/VZW carrying it,if HTC can prove that their success isn't driven disproportionately by VZW & their B.S.,then HTC's positioned for a healthier future & relationship w/VZW & all carriers.

I think Verizon wants to distinguish themselves from the other carriers, hence the droid branding for example. That may be only one reason why they don't get all the top phones all the time; Verizon might not be able to get all the same phones as everyone else because whether it's Nokia, Samsung, or HTC, the manufacturers may not be willing to make every phone with different radios, antennas, and the software that is required to run them for CDMA only. Most of the world uses GSM, so while Verizon is the biggest carrier in the USA, it may not always be worth it to manufacture for them in the grand scheme of things.
Then you also have the supposed control demands made by Verizon, but as I understand it, most of the other major US carriers are similar in the bloat and proprietary software the demand on the phones.
Who really knows what goes on in the minds of those who are in control?!?!?!

That would be a pretty bold move, and a big gamble for a company on the verge of being no more.

Hot tip: HTC One for Verizon is loaded in the inventory system

For those on Verizon and wanting this phone, there's still hope. :)

Also, the Droid DNA for Verizon first made its appearance in the inventory system 6 weeks before on September 6th, 2012 - to be released November 23rd, 2012.

If this follows the same pattern, it would mean that Verizon is holding off for a July 11 or July 18 release date

Very excited that they announced HTC ONE for Verizon. I've been coveting this phone, and cursing Verizon for not having it at launch like other carriers.

But now that Moto X is also coming out this summer, it's gonna be a tough decision for me. I'm hoping that Moto X will have Snapdragon 800 with a battery close to 3000mAh. But if Moto X specs are close to HTC ONE, I'll go with the ONE.

TBH, I don't want to shell out $500+ for either phone, so I'll probably be waiting well beyond their release dates for a price drop. (buying the phone outright to keep unlimited data)

This makes for a very interesting Android Summer.

I am twirling happily around the room (ok, not while I'm typing, but just a moment ago I was) that The One is coming.

I've been waiting long enough for a new phone - and since my original Incredible is 3+ years old, rooted, hanging on for dear life, I suspect that there's nothing I can do to keep my unlimited data since I'm moving to a 4G LTE phone. I'd love to buy it outright, but that's not going to happen, unless a miracle happens when I try and pick it up at the store.

i'm super excited as well...i had the original INC for 2 solid years waiting for the next great phone to come...none did, so i bought a used rezound to hold me over for a few months till the next great thing arrived...a year later nothing came...ah the life of a HTC fan with verizon.

i will be a ONE owner the day it arrives.:D

Sorry to change the topic from the Verizon One announcement (congrats to all of you Verizon customers by the way), but has anyone had any luck getting the 64GB One at an AT&T store? Supposedly a few have shown up, but I was told by someone in the store yesterday that it was online only. And yes, I know the website says web only, but I have come across other posts online where some have said they've gotten it in store. Just wondering how common it might be...

Sense goes deeper than just the launcher, so I don't think it would be viable in the current form to release it on the Play Store. It's really a ROM replacement rather than a change of apps.

And I'll bet they expect to sell more "standard" One's with T-Mobile than Google Editions. Will be very interesting to see whether the rumour of them making the Google Edition software available to other owners pans out - and if it does, I suspect HTC will be very interested to know what the take-up is.
