Not sure of the purpose but my guess is if there is not a photo related to the email received, then it will have an initial of the email, related to the email.

Yeah from what I see my contacts that have pictures like my mother, and some friends all have their contract picture, but stuff that does not just uses the first letter from the email it looks like.

And for multiple people in the email it looks like it breaks up the square into smaller squares.

G 4.5 has potential but this version is glitchy. Email notifications don't work. I read reviews of this pre release on other forums and everyone is having this problem.

I have noticed a few weird things like I delete an email and then come back to gmail and it is still there and my Gmail has not updated I may try to do a reinstall and see if that helps because my download was a bit iffy.

Working fine so far for me, the only thing I don't like it the fact it does not have a delete icon for the emails, you have to hit the menu key to delete the email.

Just tap the contact box, the email highlights and the trash can icon appears. You can also select multiple emails.

What I like best is that there is now an option to empty spam and trash.

Interesting...I dont get that when I tap the contact box. I get:

I still have to hit menu to get the delete option am I doing something wrong maybe?
