My goal is to have the cheapest possible phone that at least meets my minimum requirements:

OS: Android v4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (preferably upgradable to Jelly Bean)
CPU: 1ghz
RAM: 1gb
Camera: 8mp

and good for games :)

Any suggestions guys?

Btw, I hope the phone is available here in the Philippines

Thanks !

1Ghz isn't good enough for games. Unless you mean 1Ghz dual core. Plus the 8mp camera makes looking for one difficult (plus its not important anyway). Plus, the megapixels don't matter. The 5mp camera of the 4 year old Galaxy S1 is still better than the 8mp camera of Cherry Mobile for example, since Samsung uses a better camera sensor with better detail processing.

I'd pick an S3mini, costs about 12-14k in the Phils depending where you buy. Or you can get it off free on Plan 999 from Globe. You could also consider a Lenovo, they have a dual core at 7k.

There are offering by MyPhone and Cherry Mobile, that are cheaper (you can get a dual core 1Ghz with an 8mp from the at 6k) but I'd stay away from them.

I see you do not trust Cherry Mobile. It is one of my options but not my priority. I am also having 2nd thought in trusting the brand.

About the camera, can you walk me through of how to determine a good camera for phones?

Btw thanks for the infos.

Thanks for all your tips and suggestions !

I really appreciate.

Ok my new target specs is at least:
  • Android 4.0 ICS
  • 1ghz Dual Core
  • 512 mb RAM
  • 5mp Camera

Questions:
1. Is Lenovo a good brand for phones?
2. Is Alcatel a good brand for phones?
3. How about battery? Is 1800 mAh good enough?

Thanks thanks!
