Busy day today, 2 S-OFF METHODS AVAILABLE

Moonshine (Only works on 2.06 and only on 32-bit linux)

revone (works on windows and either 2.04/2.06)(A few people saying this doesn't work, try moonshine if this is so for you this is a pre release so it may not work for everyone)

NOTE: revones' appearance was a little....suspicious for lack of a better word but a lot of people are claiming success. That being said, I personally trust moonshine more, mostly because I know beaups is solid. Take that for what you will.

for what its worth, alpha rev and unrevoked have been around for a long time, seperately, then joining together to form revolutionary. all their tools are still being used today.

Revolutionary

AlphaRev 1.8

unrevoked

ive personally used unrevoked(there arent many with an evo or OG incredible who havent :D) and ive also used revolutionary on a number of devices.

i agree with you 100% beaups, fuses, and hyuh are all rock solid. ive used team unlimteds jpbear, and dirty racun, and ive also used facepalm s off. id trust moonshine 100%,without a doubt.

the revolutionary team is right up there,no reason to be leery of revone,IMO.

i used revone on my t mobile htc one,and it worked fastastically. from the first few pages of the thread, i expected to have some issues, but it worked for me on the first try :smokingsomb:

Good to have some input. I was just a little leary because it seemed odd that the two methods were released so close together and I had never heard of unrevoked or alpha rev. just a happy coincidence I guess:)

trying the revone method and I'm lost. how do i push the revone file to my phone? i got adb running and it see's my phone but i dont understand the "push" thing. the file is here > C:\Users\my name\Desktop\DNARooT\revone.dna

Update: moved file to adb folder, push successful.
update:2 once the file is pushed i get the following:

root@android:/ # cd /data/local/tmp
cd /data/local/tmp

root@android:/data/local/tmp # chmod 755 revone
chmod 755 revone

Unable to chmod revone: No such file or directory

Update:3 now I'm thinking the file isnt getting pushed... so confused

can someone post the syntax on how i should run it? thanks...

Moonshine works great can't say for the other s-off out there. Dual booted into Ubuntu, that hasn't been booted in months plugged in my DNA downloaded the file and ran it. Took about 10 minutes. Then I downloaded ROM manager and presto rooted with a custom ROM. M7 Sense 5 for now...love it!

I tried moonshine to. Booted off a Ubuntu 32bit dvd on my 64bit pc, and kept getting "temp root failed" I know there's a problem with 64 but I thought a 32bit would work. Anyone know when a one click method is going to be out.. lol

Unfortunately I can't help you. I didn't actually use either method. I've been s-off since facepalm. You should hop on the IRC channel listen on the revone thread for help.

looks like you are not pushing revone to the correct location. make sure you didnt extract it,put it into your adb/fastboot folder, the make sure you are in that directory when running commands. then:

adb push revone /data/local/tmp/

I did revone on an htc one.i dont have a dna,so i have no personal experience with it. this is what you should basically see, with exception that since i was allready unlocked and superSU installed,i could optionally su into a root shell.

red are my typed inputs, blue additional info:

Code:
c:\miniadb_m7>[COLOR="Red"]adb push revone /data/local/tmp/[/COLOR]

seems to make a difference when folks are unable to unlock and root prior to running. ive seen a few sucessful "non rooted" cases with sprint htc ones, but in the thread in the one section, seems like alot of folks haveing prollems with the dna.

if it doesnt work after a few tries, and you cant get moonshine to work, either, make sure youre on their recomended firmware and hop on their respective irc channels,as lykarsis suggested :)

@Scotty85 thanks for the info but i still cant get it to work. a couple of questions on your post.
"c:\miniadb_m7>adb push revone /data/local/tmp/" how do you get the miniadb_m7 up in CMD?
souldnt i be in androidsdk\platform-tools?
and when you say
"make sure you didnt extract it" your talking about the revone file? i didnt extract that. I'll run through it again and post a screen shot.

Update: ok, i get the "Gaining root access (thanks to Dan's motochopper)...Success." but it reboots automatically. has done it 3 times.. (first Screen Shot) i proceed to step 5 and get (second Screen Shot)
what was messing me up before was "chmod 755 revone" i was copy/paste that when i think i needed, chmod 755 revone.dna. but now i cant get it from rebooting on its own...

Being an s off removes all securities, but does not give you root access. You will need to install recovery, and then flash superuser with that recovery.

You will need to simply start at step 2 of the HTC dev unlock guide, which I can link for you shortly.
now i remember is this it? HTCdev - Unlock Bootloader
thanks for all the help..:)
Update: Error Code: 160.
Error Reason: MID Not Allowed.
failed...

Then you will need to read entire post ;)

You just need to skip the commands that actually unlock the bootloader in step 1 :)
Im reading man, i got 15 tabs open in my browser!!! lol i dont see where to DL the image file.. i see your post has this "recovery-ra-vigor-3.14-gnm.img" is that what i need?
i need mountain dew going to store..

Strange. I'm running on a 64bit machine and didn't have any issues. Even ignored the 32bit part about the libraries in the instructions.

i cant find the recovery image in the link from your Guide. is this where it should be? TWRP 2.3.2.0.
if so its not there. i have a, META-INF folder & system folder.. i found this, openrecovery-twrp-2.4.0.0beta-dlx.img online but im scared if i flash the wrong thing I'll brick it. i got Fastboot device in CMD but just dont know about the .img file.
all my Moto devices were easy..

a bit late with the answer, but for others looking, dna twrp and superuser are found in the "download these files" section:
before you start,go ahead and download these files:
-twrp recovery: TWRP 2.3.2.0 for HTC Droid DNA - Droid DNA Development - RootzWiki
-superuser files: latest superSU from this thread on xda (the download link is where is says: CWM installable ZIP: CWM-SuperSU-v0.96.zip )
-go to HTCdev - Unlock Bootloader and register an account

i followed this How to flash ClockworkMod Recovery for the Droid DNA and put clockwork on the phone. its what i used on all my phones. soooo now i have to flash superuser with CWM? i think so.
thats another way to skin the cat :)

Root At Last, Root At Last!! Thank God Almighty, I Have Root At Last!:D
thanks again for your help/patience Scotty85
awsome sauce! glad you are sorted
