Help HTC EVO 4G LTE Camera Specs and Discussion

OK...I have notices something that is odd. I was recording a video last night indoors an was getting 29fps with my settings tweak listed above and noticed it was saving to internal storage..I switched it to sdcard and noticed it was not achieving the 29fps but now back to 19fps. I switched it back to internal storage and got 29fps again. Is this normal? I'm running a 32gb pny class 10. Do I need a faster card..preferably 64? ( earlymon find :) ) and one last thing...does anyone know if there is a kernel that has a 60fps mod?

I was thinking the same thing..and if I remember the sdcard I have now caps at 10mb/s the 64gb's I am looking at now have a 30mb/s cap. The odd thing is tho is that outdoors it records fine with the mod on sd card..only indoors with it is effected... like it's working to hard or something, but internal storage does just fine.

Whoa. No no.

You have to look at uhs-1 type cards when you go to 64 GB, because at that size, you've stepped up to sdxc, and uhs-1 is the basic standard for that. And while the card may do that, I believe that you'll find it unlikely that the controller on the phone will for that memory path.

Put that 64 GB card in a new camera, you'll see uhs-1 performance. Put it in a phone and you'll be lucky to go beyond class 10.

Internal storage is faster, and it does work harder in low light.

well I got one and it seems to be doing a lil better..exposure tweak still needed to achieve 29fps indoors (light type pending). However I can now save on Sdcard with no difference in framerate between Sd and internal. The card does seem to run 95% class 10, but does have an occasional bump of uhs-1 hitting sometimes 15+MB/s. All in all..not bad for $49. More storage and slightly faster.

I hope this is the right thread. At least you're discussing the EVO camera. I've been looking (for years) for an app that will allow HTC phones to pause while recording video and have posted that on several forums. I've finally found it.

There's a relatively new app called Funtastic Camera that actually pauses video recording, and has several other features, too. There's a free version in Google Play. It has a few restrictions. There's also a Pro version in the Amazon store for $1.99 with no restrictions. I have no connection to the developers, but am excited that there is finally an app that brings the EVO to complete parity with the Samsung SIII.

Nice find. Only problem iv seen so far for that cam is while in photo mode it is stuck in 4:3 and does not take pics at 16:9. Video does fine so far from what i can see.

No problem pausing unpausing.

Took me forever to figure out how to get into video mode.

Wouldn't stop complaining that it couldn't connect to its servers on the net.

I ran into that issue to. But where i mainly got errors and crashes was when pausing and unpausing to record multiple times at 1-2second intevals (record time)..eventually it got errors/crash/freeze.

I banged hard on that, no problem for me, for whatever reason.

Not robust to the installed environment? :dontknow:
