Root Pantech Pocket rooting troubles

My wife gave me her {now old} pantech pocket. You could call it part of my OCD, you could even say i was trying to be joe cool, but i wanted to have the thing rooted so as i could get rid of everything i knew i was not going to use.....

Jokes on me it seems as there is now a few issues and i have no idea how to solve them...

~The Notification bar will not allow me to swipe down
~the home key will not work -- howevver when i am in recovery mode it will.
~when i plug the usb cord in, the computer will notice the fact i am trying to access the sd card for a moment then it is nothing.

I have tried a factory reset, but that just returns me to all the previous settings, and will not give me the usual setup welcome screen. Do i need to try and find a way on how to remap everything? or is there some way to solve this issue?

Hey grumpy :),

Welcome to the AndroidForums!

Did you actually succeed in rooting your Pantech Pocket and doing something(s) subsequent to that that might explain the issues you're having? (I'm guessing you might have since you mentioned recovery, but I wanted to check if it was a custom recovery).

I ask because that information would be helpful to know for those that might suggest some fixes for you.

If this is root-related, I could move your thread over to the all-things-root area for you in hopes that the root folks in there can help.

Let me know!

Cheers and best of luck :).

it was successful in the sense that i have gotten su access...

In my research it seems that using super one click the rooting process seems to break a few programs, or that was me in my haste to delete programs.

Access to the notification bar seems to be flaky at best and works when it wants to, and if i am to power cycle the phone then i have to fight with it to get the notification bar to recognize i am touching it.
though the home key is still not working. I have tried to get into the key making and change the home key setting from "wake" to "wake_dropped" but to no avail

LOL, I just now realized your thread title said "rooting troubles" ;) :) [should have been a big red flag for me]. So, I have moved your thread over to the all-things-root area based on this and your last reply :).

Most rooting programs simply install the su binary and the Superuser app (and sometimes a busybox) which don't have any affect whatsoever on your device unless and app actually uses them. So, its unlikely that simply rooting is related to your troubles.

However, removing apps/programs is a good way to cause instability on your device and its always recommended to have a Nandroid backup in your back pocket to restore in case something like this happens.

Not being familiar with your particular device prevents me from offering any specific advice on how to proceed from here, but hopefully the good / smart folks in the all-things-root area will chime-in to help you.

Best of luck!

:)
