Just a heads up, the stock android camera and gallery app pulled from the Google edition s4 and htc one works great on the note 2. You don't have to be rooted, just install the apk and you're good to go. You'll lose all the options of the Samsung camera app, but photosphere works perfectly and I love how you can swipe right from the viewfinder into the gallery. Give it a try!

I just want to clarify some things, before I download the apk and install:

1) This replaces the OEM Note 2 camera, correct?

2) Will this allow the Sprint version of the Note 2, to have a silent shutter?

3) What effects specifically are lost?

TIA

It does not replace the Samsung camera, it's a separate camera app that also includes the stock android gallery. It seems that the shutter is only silent if the ringer is set to vibrate or silent. The Samsung camera has many more scenes and shooting modes whereas the stock android camera only has some very basic options.

Yea, Google moving towards all internal storage probably means that they won't get the option to save to sd.

Yeah. I realized that was the reason there was no way to route to sd after posting. Nonetheless, TY to the OP for posting this. I have that camera set to stratosphere pics and will likely use it just for that. Glad Samsung camera still her though. I really love Samsung's oem camera.

Pretty cool I'll admit. I was a little miffed at losing all the options from the previous camera app but I guess I'll learn to live with it. Photosphere is kinda cool. Just need a nice place to take a pic and see what the results look like.

Probably the best PS pic I've taken on my Gnex. Granted, the Note 2 has a FAR better camera so hopefully your results are better. :)

Mine is horrible because I still don't know how to line the picture up properly.

Have downloaded this ApK to my computer can I just transfer to the phone and open or do I need to place it in a specific folder before opening...Thanks

I am pretty sure it should work in any folder of the phone. After installing you could probably delete it since it is just a setup file. I usually just download apk files directly on the Note II to the download folder.
